This recipe was very easy to make, it took about 5 minutes of prep time, not including defrosting the pork loin. We gobbled it up and had just a little bit left over for pulled pork sandwiches the next day.
- 2 lb pork loin
- 21 oz can apple pie filling
- 1 cup barbecue sauce I use Sweet Baby Rays
- 2 Tbs minced dried onions
- Place the pork tenderloin in the crockpot.
- In a bowl mix together the apples, barbecue sauce and minced onions.
- Pour the sauce over the pork tenderloin.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Serve over rice or noodles or with a baked potato.
- Drizzle the sauce over your meat and make sure everyone gets some apples.

cindy says
Leanne, I’m so glad you liked it! It is a favorite around here.
Tracy says
I have used BBQ in past recipes using the slow cooker and it ended up tasting burnt. Does the apple filling help that?
cindy says
Tracy, I use BBQ in my crockpot all the time, with several different recipes and I have never had a problem. Unfortunately, I’m not sure what to tell you.
Erin says
I tried this recipe a few weeks ago and everyone just loved it! The only “problem” is that now I will be cooking for more people and hoping that this recipe doubles easily. *fingers crossed* There were absolutely no leftovers last time I made it either 🙂
cindy says
Erin, I don’t think I could double it in my crock pot! I’m so glad everyone liked this recipe. Thanks for letting me know.
Erin says
Cindy, I doubled everything except the meat because everyone especially loved the apple, bbq, onion mix. I decided to make a side dish with it too, as I know there will once again be none of this left over. Thanks for posting!
Kimberly says
My husband doesn’t like onions so I’m going to try this with garlic
Nichole says
Can you use this with pork roast?
Noelle says
I was wondering if I could use a fresh onion rather than dried. It’s what I have on hand.
cindy says
I would think it would be fine.
Victoria says
Omg!! Made this last night and it was a hit!! My pork loin weighed over 4lbs, I doubled everything except the apple filling. I also seasoned the loin w salt and pepper and added onion and garlic powder to the sauce ?????
Madison says
Could I do this in a Dutch oven on my smoker?
cindy says
Madison, I really don’t know. I’m sorry.
Jill says
Sounds yummy. What do you serve this with?
cindy says
Jill, I serve potatoes and a veggie.
Tammy says
Just an FYI you can even cook your baked potatoes in the same crockpot! Just wrap in foil and place on top of you pork tenderloin and let them cook! One lesss dish to worry about!
Linda Peterson says
This is beyond delicious and so easy.i use a can of no sugar added apple pie filling. It’s just as delicious and saves calories! Great recipe!
Krista says
Can you use fresh apples instead of pie filling?
cindy says
You can make homemade pie filling if you like. I think it won’t be moist enough if you just use apples.
FoodAdiQ630 says
So good! All the flavors melt together in your mouth and go great with one another!!!! WOW⭐⚡💯✔
I never tried the canned apple filling.
Try using a fresh cut up apple & bag of sauerkraut as well, shake a few drops of Worcestershire, mix then bake w pork…..YUM YUM try itbet u LOVE IT.
Marina says
My picky eater loves this! We’ve put it on our regular rotation of monthly meals and he often adds a smiley face beside it. Thank you for such a delicious and easy recipe.
Janice says
So tender and flavor… fantastic. Used Sweet Baby Rays Honey BBQ. Over rice. 5 Star for sure!
Sandra says
This is cooking in my crockpot right now. Looking forward to trying it tonight!
Beth says
Is this recipe for pork tenderloin or pork loin? References both at different places in recipe and comments. Sounds delicious.
cindy says
Tenderloin
Patricia Ward says
I’m trying this today. Sounds awesome! I’m wondering if my son who hates fruit will like it? Lol, going to see tonight! Only thing I’d correct in the written recipe is to list pork tenderloin, instead of pork loin. Loins are bigger in diameter, tenderloins are “skinnier”. Can’t wait to try this!
Amy says
What caught my eye about this recipe was the pork loin itself. I said to myself, hey that looks exactly like the pork loin I get at the food pantry. Reading further I found out that’s where yours came from! 🙂 The first one I cooked with Coca-Cola in the Crock-Pot but it didn’t turn out great. I’m really excited to try this recipe. I have been told repeatedly that I should start a blog about the great meals I make with what I receive from the food pantry. Thanks for this!
deborah ward says
I don’t have the canned apples so I am going to substitute cranberry sauce with berries as a replacement Ill let you know how it turns out
cindy says
Deborah, sounds interesting! How did it turn out?
Jackie says
I used can apple pie filling, my homemade barbecue sauce and oh my goodness it was so good poured the sauce stuff over the rice it was fantastic will definitely make it again
Sandy says
Has anyone made this with a pork loin (NOT a pork TENDERLOIN, which is easily grilled in 20 minutes and so tender you can cut it with a fork.) I usually reserve my slow cooker for less tender cuts of meat, like pork beef chuck roast. I’m sure this recipe would be very tender with a tenderloin, but will it be tender with pork loin? (Falling apart like pulled pork?)
cindy says
Sandy, I have always used a tenderloin so I am not sure.
Ellen says
Delicious. Would like to try this in a more diabetic friendly attempt next time!
Jessica says
What about trying this with chicken instead? My husband hates anything pork. 🙄
cindy says
I’ve never tried it with chicken.
Sheila says
Have this in my crockpot right now! Can’t wait to try it!
