My husband asked me to find a new recipe for ground beef. I headed to Pinterest to see what I could find. I didn’t want a pasta recipe because we had Creamy Italian Chicken and Pasta the night before. I found a few recipes for Cheeseburger Pie and I remembered eating a similar dish at a friend’s house as a child. I created my version of the dish with items I already had in my pantry and refrigerator {bonus!}. I was actually surprised at how tasty this dish was, My husband liked it too and said to put it on regular meal plan rotation!
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix
- 8 oz Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp Dry Mustard
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Coat a 9" pan (square, round or pie plate) with non-stick spray.
- Brown ground beef over medium heat until no pink shows.
- Drain fat from beef.
- Mix soup mix into warm ground beef and set aside.
- Measure flour into a medium bowl.
- Slowly pour milk into flour, whisk well to mix.
- Whisk in mustard, salt, pepper and eggs.
- Add 4 oz of cheese into the meat mixture and stir to combine.
- Transfer the meat mixture to the prepared pan.
- Cover the meat with the remaining cheese.
- Carefully pour the milk mixture over the cheese layer.
- Bake at 375° for 35 minutes, until crust is golden brown and bubbly.
- Remove pie from oven and let rest 10 minutes before serving.
You can also add onions when you are browning the meat.
Serve with traditional cheeseburger condiments and sides.
You can add onions, diced tomatoes or any other veggies that you may like to the ground beef to make this cheeseburger pie your own. In my house, I’ll make it as listed above and serve with ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickles and tomatoes so we can each dress it up like we want to.
