Quick and Easy DIY Laundry Soap

Ingredients

  • 2- Quart Size Mason Jars
  • 1-5 oz bar Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar Soap
  • 1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax
  • 1 cup Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda . Not Baking Soda
  • Boiling Water
  • Blender

Instructions

Day One

  1. Boil 3 cups of water.
  2. While the water is boiling, cut the bar of Fels-Naptha soap into approximately 1″ cubes. Divide this in half and distribute them between the 2 mason jars.
  3. Add 1 1/2 cups of boiling water to each jar.
  4. Cover jars loosely and let them sit overnight to gel.

Day Two

  1. Boil a large sauce pan of water.
  2. While the water is boiling, use a knife to make a crisscross pattern in the gelled soap. Making sure to cut all the way down to the bottom of the jar.
  3. Add 1/2 cup Super Washing Soda to each jar.
  4. Add 1/2 cup Borax to each jar.
  5. Add boiling water to each jar-up to the shoulders.
  6. If you have a blender with detachable blades, attache the blade mechanism to the mason jar and blend until creamy.
  7. **If your blender doesn't have detachable blades-dump the contents of one mason jar into the blender and blend until creamy then dump the mixture back into the mason jar.
  8. Seal tightly.
  9. Use 1 Tablespoon per load. Top Load Washers-put soap in with water before adding clothes. Front Load Washers-put soap in with clothes NOT in soap dispenser.
