Last week I shared with you Wedding Gift Registry Do’s and Don’ts. The week I will tackle what to register for. As I said before, think about who you are as a couple. Crystal, Bone China and Fine Silver are registry staples but if you are going to store them and never use them…why register for them? Register for what you need to get your household up and running and then throw in a few wants too. Make sure you include a range of prices from $20-$200, is a good range to cover the budgets of most wedding guests.

Aaron and Summer started their wedding gift registry last week. The go-to place to register around here is Target BUT we have read about many complaints and problems and Aaron’s research showed that the Target gift registry has not been functioning right since February! Needless to say, they won’t be registering at Target. So…they got started at Aaron’s favorite store, Amazon. They didn’t add a lot to this registry yet but if you would like to check it out here. They plan to head to Bed Bath & Beyond this week to create a registry there, anything not at that store will probably be added to their Amazon registry.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

  • If you register for a set of anything pans/knives/bowls etc. mark each item in the set off of the list so that you don’t duplicate things.
  • If you don’t know where you will be living, choose mostly neutral colors. You can accent with splashes of color later.
  • If you will be renting an apartment you don’t need the outdoors things listed.

We didn’t get china or crystal–pfaltzgraff was our choice of nicer dishes. I wish now I would have got plain white. I also wish I would have registered for a stand mixer and good food chopper. My mom thought they were too expensive, but because I had a large wedding, everything was bought on my list. However, I probably would have registered for a small stand mixer, and when I bought one 2 years ago, I got a 6 qt one now that I have 5 kids.

We chose Pfaltzgraff too! I wish I had registered for a stand mixer. My son is getting one with his house so…I plan on borrowing it!

Wedding registry’s are so useful for the guests. Especially because your likes may be totally different from the bride & groom. The suggestion for a varied price range is also and smart idea. Thanks for sharing.
