This is my last week in Phone Central for Radio Training Network until August. This week I’m only working 30 hours. Compared to last week’s 65 hours it should be easy. I’ll miss my Phone Central friends, most of whom I won’t see until August, except on Facebook. I hope you have a not-for-profit that you care about and give your time, money and talents to. Volunteering really does make life more meaningful.

Turn it Up Tuesday 116

Hello! We got back from our annual Christmas Disney family vacation last night. I came back sick. This morning I went to the doctor and found out I have a sinus infection and an ear infection. Just what I needed right? Anyway, life goes on even when we are sick. I will be doing just the minimum for a few days, taking my meds and drinking lots of water while watching Hallmark Christmas movies I hope your week is off to a better start than mine!

Can you believe there are only two and a half weeks til Thanksgiving? My schedule is kind of busy between now and then. Currently my dad is in the hospital having some breathing problems so please say a prayer that they will get things sorted out. We also have 3 Disney days coming up! This Friday evening we will be covering Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom. Then next week we pop over to Epcot on Tuesday to spend time with our friend from Philadelphia who will be visiting with his family. On Saturday we go back to the Magic Kingdom to hang with our Canadian friends! Yes, it was much easier when we all coordinated our vacation times but I am happy just to get to spend time with my friends. In the middle of all of that Jordan comes home from the mission field…and he is staying home. He has accepted a tech internship at a local church and he will be going back to college, so my nest won’t be empty any more

What a difference a year makes. Last year when the calendar turned to November it meant Crunch Time. Aaron and Summer’s wedding was November 29th so it was time to tackle last minute details. This year we are all relaxing a bit and looking forward to the 3rd week of the month when we get to spend some time with dear friends from the UK, Canada and Philadelphia and then of course, Thanksgiving. This year I will also resume a favorite tradition of mine, Black Friday Shopping with my dad. Much to his dismay, I took last year off due to Black Friday also being wedding rehearsal day, but this year I will be ready. We might move a little slower, dad has had a tough year medically with his sarcoidosis and about with prostate cancer, but we will spend the early morning hours of Novemeber 27th together no matter what.

Happy Hump Day! It’s the end of another month, can you believe it? Don’t forget that we “fall back” Saturday night as we go from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time. I for one, will be thankful for an extra hour of sleep because Sunday is a big day. It is Friend Day at RiverLife Church! I’ll be back singing on the worship team and then I’ll probably pop in to help with RiverLife Kids after worship since there should be a lot of kids at the 11am service, before the picnic. Then at the picnic we will have a lot of fun and great food. Friend Day is always a great day at our church.

Turn It Up Tuesday 110

I hope you had a great weekend, I sure did. Saturday hubby and I deep cleaned the living room in anticipation of decorating for the holidays! We’ve been so busy the last few years that we haven’t decorated inside the house. This year, that changes. I’ve told hubby that we will be decorating inside the house the week of Thanksgiving…and he agreed! We probably still won’t get a tree this year because there just isn’t a place to put one. I will probably just set up my small table top tree like we used to do.

Saturday evening we attended a powerful prayer gathering at our church. Sunday was my last day as interim Children’s Pastor and we had a great time learning about putting others first. I will still volunteer in kids church on Sundays that I’m not singing on the worship team but our Children’s Pastor sabbatical is over and I was honored to lead the children in her absence.

Happy Wednesday. Wow it is only 10 days til Halloween! Has your family decided on its costumes yet? If you need some help, check out my Costume Ideas Pinterest board for some creative, DIY ideas. We won’t be dressing up this year, but we will be out in our driveway giving out candy to the kids that come by…IF we remember to pick up some candy! I know!

Wow! Re-entry after a conference is difficult. I miss my friends and my mind is still swirling from all I have learned. I have already started to implement some of what I learned and I have an action list of other things to get working on. To make things more difficult, hubby installed our new router while I was gone and we have head trouble getting things, like our wireless printer, to play nice with the network! This has made hubby stress out A LOT! I too am behind in some work because of the printing issues and it just isn’t a fun #firstworldproblem to deal with.

Turn it Up Tuesday 104

This week is my last full week of work before I have 3 weeks of fun, craziness and travel. I have a lot packed into these last few days and I’m taking a “me day” on Tuesday to get my hair and toes done before I travel. It’s so funny, I got my first pedicure last year for my son’s wedding, it was a gift from my best friend. This will be my 4th pedicure in 2015, it is my new favorite way to treat myself. I go to the Boutique Out East in Lakewood Ranch and my nail tech is Hannah, who I have know since she was born! Her mom and I have been friends for 27 years! I’m getting my hair done by students at Manatee Technical College. I’ll post before and after pics on Instagram so make sure you are following me over there.

Our plans were to spend Sunday afternoon and all day Monday in and around the pool but torrential rains Sunday afternoon and most of Monday just didn’t let that happen. I did finally finish reading Kingdom Keepers VII: The Insider, which means I finished The Kingdom Keepers series. Now I need to find time to start The Return Book One Disney Lands which is the next series featuring the Kingdom Keepers characters. If you haven’t read this series, and you are a Disney lover, I highly recommend them for ages 12+.

Today is Labor Day…a time for honoring working people. It is also a time to celebrate the accomplishments of the workers, activists, and organizers who fought for organized labor, including such concepts that we know today – the 40-hour work week, occupational safety, minimum wage law, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and affordable housing. So let’s appreciate and honor all those involved on Labor Day…and remember this today and as we link up all week.
