Happy Win it Wednesday Giveaway Linky Day!! I hope you are having an enjoyable fall week. We are having a hot and somewhat rainy week here in Florida, yes, today’s high is 87°, I cannot wait for fall to arrive!

I’m working the HIS Radio Sharathon this week, as well as teaching piano and running my other business so it is a very busy week around here. I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m still waiting for the replacement parts for my Escape to arrive. Praise the Lord she runs great but I’d love for her to go back to looking great too. Thankfully, we received the check from the insurance company the other day so as soon as the parts arrive, we can get them painted and put on and Dory will be back to normal. Yes, my car is named Dory because se is a blue Escape…get it???

Happy Win it Wednesday Giveaway Linky Day and Happy October! I hope your month is off to a great start. We actually had fall-like weather last week here in Florida, this week we are back up in the low 90s but soon, fall will be here to stay.

So, Sunday on the way home from church we got into a car accident. The road our church is on has a sweeping 90° curve at one end, there are lots of warning and flashing lights to warn you to slow down. A 17yo girl took the turn too fast, on wet roads and hydroplaned. Then the tires locked onto the pavement and she overcorrected into our lane. Thankfully Ron saw it happening and slowed down as much as he could. She hit the front passenger side of my Ford Escape with the passenger side rear wheel well of her Toyota Corolla. Praise the Lord, no one was injured, but we needed an auto glass repair.

We waited 3 1/2 hours and the Florida Highway Patrol never came! The girl’s dad came and stayed with her. He filed a claim with his insurance and since their story agreed with ours, a tow truck took her car away and we received the info we needed to take my SUV to get repaired. At about 4 hours after the accident and call to 911 someone from the Florida Highway Patrol called me to see if we were still at the accident site! I told him, “No, we gave up waiting at 3 1/2 hours and then let him talk to Ron since he was driving at the time off the accident.

Monday we dropped my Escape off to be repaired. We should hear sometime today about how long they think the repair will take and what it will entail. In the meantime, I’m driving a sweet brand new, had 430 miles on it when I got it, Jeep Compass with all the bells and whistles. It’s fun to drive and see how fancy cars have gotten.

Win it Wednesday Giveaway Linky 9-2-2020

Happy first Win it Wednesday Giveaway Linky Day of September. We are heading into Labor Day weekend which means I should be leaving on a cruise on Saturday but thanks to the stupid virus we had to reschedule that for next May, only 255 days to go.

This has been a crazy few weeks. On August 22nd we were taking my mom out to dinner and she had a heart attack in the back seat of my car! She was in the hospital, alone, thanks to the stupid virus. My sister got to see her Wednesday the 26th to make plans to mover mom into my sister’s home with hospice care. On Friday, mom took a turn for the worse and was moved to the hospice ward in the hospital. At least we were able to visit her there.

Ron and I spent about 90 minutes with her Friday night. She was very talkative and she gave me a lot of important information about where things were in her apartment. Saturday morning she was much weaker and could only whisper a few words at a time. I spent 2 hours with her that afternoon but she slept most of the time. She peacefully passed on Monday morning with my sister by her side.

Needless to say, it’s been a crazy few weeks. My mom almost died 22 years ago when she was in full respiratory arrest. At that time she was diagnosed with COPD and has been on oxygen 24/7 since then. Two years ago her cardiologist said there was nothing that could be done for her heart, go live your best life, and she did. She still worked full time for years, volunteered with the American Cancer Society, she was a breast cancer survivor, and volunteered at her church. She stood strong after my dad passed away almost 5 years ago and lived independently until the end.

I’m happy that we gave her a Walt Disney World vacation for Christmas last year. We spent February 28-March 2 of this year visiting all 4 theme parks with her in a wheelchair. We had a wonderful time and made wonderful memories before the virus hit.

Win it Wednesday 5-11-16

This past weekend my husband and I spent 2 nights in a cute inn on Pass-a-grille Beach, just a half hour north from where we live. We were gifted the stay by a friend and even though we say we aren’t “beach people” we thought we would still enjoy the weekend away. Pass-a-grille is a lovely narrow stretch of beach in south St Petersburg, FL. The weather was cool and there was a good breeze all weekend. We spent a total of 90 minutes on the beach not including the half hour each night while enjoying the sunset. We are activity people we like to go, go, go. Being stopped for too long creates stress and boredom. Some of you will think I am absolutely crazy and that is fine. We are all wired differently. I relax by doing something different than whatever is currently keeping me busy with work or home. That may mean watching TV or reading a book but it might also mean going to a theme park, playing a board game or swimming in a pool. We joke that even though we live on the Gulf Coast of Florida, we only go to the beach 1 day a year. We’ve had our day. Bring back the fun!

Happy Star Wars Day to all of you who celebrate! I am not a Star Wars fanatic. Truth be told, I have only seen the original 3. I saw them in theaters in the 80s and I introduced them to my boys in the 2000s. My boys weren’t interested so we have never gone beyond that. With Star Wars Land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I feel like I need to give them another try. On our first visit to the Star Wars Launch Bay we felt totally lost and that is not how we like to feel inside a Disney park! I may need to find a friend who owns the DVDs and give them another try.

Hubby and I spent the weekend at Walt Disney World celebrating his 50th birthday! As always, we had a wonderful time. we spent some time at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. Ate great food and had some together time. It was a much better weekend than last week! I hope your weekend was wonderful too.

Hello April! If you read yesterday’s post, you know we had a crazy April Fool’s Day followed by another interesting April 2nd. I am glad last weekend is behind us and spring has returned to west central Florida for a few more days. The crazy weather last weekend ushered in what will probably be the last cold front of the season, today’s high is creeping back up there at 83°. Enough about the weather, let’s get to the giveaways!

I hope the entire Win it Wednesday community is having a blessed Holy Week. We had a wonderful Palm Sunday. I had the honor of leading our kid’s church during both services. Then we had our church Spring Picnic and Egg Hunt. It was a wonderful day with over 600 people at the picnic! I got to work the prize tent for the elementary aged kids and there were tons of happy children and families. For us this week is “normal” until Friday. We always take Good Friday off and spend time focusing on the things of God and the love Christ showed for us by giving His life for our sins. Sunday, Easter, I will be serving in kids church and then we will go to my mom’s house and spend time with family celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. Easter is the best day of the year for Christians and we celebrate wholeheartedly.

I hope your March got off to a good start. Mine has been busy because it is the middle of Friendraiser season for the RTN Christian radio family of stations. I volunteer in phone central to take donation calls for a different radio station in the network each week. Each Friendrasier runs 3-4 days and 12-14 hours a day! After this week we get a few weeks off during the Easter Season and then we are back at it for a few weeks in April. To me the sacrifice of my time…and sleep is worth it because Christian radio has had a very powerful effect on my life. I hope you volunteer for a cause that is near and dear to your heart too!
