On Saturday we ventured back to Epcot’s 20th annual Flower and Garden Festival, this time we had some festival newbies along with us. One of my favorite exhibits at the festival is Tinker Bell’s Butterfly House so we headed in there to wait out a passing shower. I am a Disney Fairies fan and a butterfly fan to the fact that this combines both of those elements makes me happy. At the entrance you are greeted by Tinker Bell and Periwinkle, her sister from the Winter Woods. Last year at Tinker Bell’s Butterfly House there was a small Winter Woods section that introduced us to Periwinkle, who we wouldn’t get to know until the October 2012 release of Secret of the Wings.
This year Tinker Bell and Periwinkle welcome you in to the Pixie Hollow Gardens to meet all of their fairy friends. This was fun because while 6yo Matthew was well aware of who all the fairies were, his dad only knew of Tinker Bell so we got to teach him about all of our Pixie Hollow friends and what their jobs are.
I LOVE that the butterfly house is also educational with boxes where you can see the butterfly life cycle in action and spotting guides to help you identify the types of butterflies fluttering around the garden.
Let’s Meet the Fairies
All of the fairies are friends of Tinker Bell and Periwinkle and they all have unique talents which they use to help Queen Clarion keep all of nature in order.
Iridessa is a light-talent fairy. She loves sunflowers and uses pixie dust to create beautiful rainbows. Iridessa is both a perfectionist and a worrywart.
Terence is a dust keeper fairy/sparrow man. his job is to give the fairies their pixie dust so that they can work, fly and do magic. Terence is Tinker Bell’s best friend.
Rosetta is a garden-talent fairy. She keeps Pixie Hollow in beautiful bloom. She is a southern lady with a sassy side.
Vidia is a fast-flying talent fairy. She is proud of her speed and that often comes across as being rather stuck-up. She is smart and can be kind…when she wants to be.
Silvermist is a water-talent fairy. She adds dew drops to spider webs and teaches pollywogs to blow bubbles. She is loyal and a good friend to Tinker Bell.
Fawn is an animal-talent fairy. She can speak every animal language and loves all of her animal friends. Fawn is a prankster and a tom-boy and loves to have fun.
