This week, as we continue our tour of Hester & Chester’s Dino-Rama in Dinoland, USA at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we stop at Primeval Whirl. Primeval Whirl is and under-loved and under-appreciated spinning mouse coaster and my favorite coaster in all of Walt Disney World. Granted, I am not a huge roller coaster person but I have ridden every one at Disney World and Primeval Whirl is my favorite.

Primeval Whirl

A few weeks ago my friend John from BigFatPanda.com made some disparaging remarks on Facebook about my beloved coaster. I told him it was my favorite and he suggested we ride it together and record our adventure so on June 28th I met John for a fun-filled day at Animal Kingdom. I hope you enjoy our video:

I don’t know when I have laughed so hard. Poor John is truly scared by this ride. He is scared for most of the reasons I love this ride.

  • To be true to the Dino-rama theming, it appears to be a ride that belongs to a traveling carnival. Thus it appears less safe than Disney’s other coasters.
  • It spins! The tilt-a-whirl fan in me LOVES that Primeval Whirl spins after the two drops.
  • The camel back bumps at the end of the ride. John hates them because they are a bit jarring I love them, especially if you are still spinning and not facing forward as you go over them.

Primeval Whirl

Primeval Whirl is a Fastpass attraction and you must be 48 inches tall to ride. I suggest you try it once and for your own opinion.

If you have ridden Primeval Whirl, I’d love for you to leave your thoughts about this ride in the comments.

That video is awesome. I have a similar one of our son on this ride, but I almost lost the camera on one of the turns. Thanks for sharing!
