mouse house memoriesLast week Disney passholders could start upgrading their current paper tickets to the new plastic RFID enabled ticket media. This is the intermediate step towards upgrading to the much anticipated Magic Bands. I know there are people concerned about the new RFID technology and I have concerns myself. Personally, since we pay with cash at Disney World, I don’t plan on attaching my debit card to my Magic Band so that makes me feel a bit safer. Anyway, on Saturday while Jordan and I were at Epcot for the Flower & Garden Festival we upgraded our passes to the new plastic passes. We had to go to the Odyssey to complete this process.

There were several stations set up in the Odyssey with cast members manning computers. We just had to hand them our current pass and a photo id. They scanned out ticket, double checked our email addresses and had us choose if we wanted Mickey, Minnie, Donald or Goofy on our ticket, I chose Minnie and Jordan chose Goofy. The whole process was completed in a matter of minutes. Passholders can upgrade their tickets at The Odyssey through May 19, 2013.

Next we spent some time looking at the Disney memorabilia that was decorating the room.

Before we left the building we got to practice using our new passes.

You might me wondering about the Magic Bands so I asked the cast member and she said they didn’t have a concrete release date yet but they hoped it would be before the end of this year. There were some sample Magic Bands on display
