The 2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is in full swing. I haven’t had the time I would like to really enjoy this year’s festival but I did pop over for a few hours last Saturday to enjoy two of my favorite foods and check out the event.

When we planned our day trip for Saturday we totally forgot about it being Columbus Day weekend. Long weekend=bigger crowds. We spent the bulk of our day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with our friends and the park was very busy and all of the Toy Story Mania Fastpasses were gone by the time we entered the park at 9:34am 🙁 This fact alone meant we had a sad 7yr old with us all day long. Anyway, we hopped over to Epcot around 5:00pm via the boat to the International Gateway.  Once we climbed the hill to get to World Showcase we were hit with a wall of people. I hadn’t been in a crowd like this at Epcot ever. The crowd was the same all around World Showcase.

Epcot Crowd

Due to the large crowds it was difficult to meander from booth to booth and check out the menus, some of which have changed from prior years. Instead, I decided to just take some photos and eat my two favorite Food & Wine Festival delicacies. That meant that the first stop was Australia. I adore the Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and hubby always loved the Shrimp on the Barbie. This year there was no Shrimp on the Barbie on the menu so he tried the Garlic Shrimp, which he said was very good but he doesn’t like tomatoes so he had to pick them all off. I ate my lamb and then sucked on the bone for a while…until I realized I looked like a cave woman gnawing on a delicious bone lol!

Our next stop was a very long line at the China booth so I could get my Mongolian Beef. I adore this spicy snack and it is so much better than the Mongolian Beef they serve at Sunshine Seasons.

I am working hard to find a week day that I can spend truly enjoying the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival this year. Since week days are much less crowded it is easier to read menus and try new foods. Also, weekdays seem to have fewer drunk people, which I find is a growing problem at the festival. I love the festival and there is truly something for everybody at the biggest fall event in Walt Disney World.
