This was a pretty good week. I’m not focusing on exercising until I see the doctor this Thursday for the results of my last set of blood work and see where we go from here. This week was about diet changes and honestly, the hardest one so far…butter.I didn’t realize how much butter I used until this past week.
We ran out of butter so I bought some Shedd’s Spread sticks (to try to convince myself it was like butter). It is ok in my cooking and on some foods but it doesn’t cut it where I use butter the most…on toast and popcorn. Some of my friends suggested I try Smart Balance as it has some butter in it and might try that next.
I have maintained my weight so I am happy with that. Monday is our busy day and we always eat lunch out so I’m bringing the boys to Subway and that will be a nice treat for me too. I do have a favor to ask all of you who read and comment on this post-please take 2 seconds out of your day to help a sista out. I am in the running for an awesome blogging job. Part one of the application process is a social media popularity contest and I need your votes. There is no registration required and it just takes a quick click. If you wanted to be extra helpful, on the voting page there are buttons so you can ask your Facebook friends and Twitter followers to help too! Here is the link http://www.sam-e.com/job/entries/433.
Thanks for stopping by! Please let me know if you have an butter substitution suggestions and if you voted! (You can vote 1x a day per IP address-so vote often between now and November 10th!)

I like SmartBalance as well. I can’t tell a huge difference in it. We don’t use butter a lot other than on bread or in recipes though. Hope your clood tests come back okay and that you can get back into exercise! Good luck on the poll!!

Honestly, I would use butter before using a fake butter. The fake butters have all sorts of weird stuff in them. I looked up Shedd’s Spread, and the ingredients are a little alarming.
Vegetable Oil Blend (Liquid Soybean Oil, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil)Water, Whey (from Milk)Salt, Vegetable Mono and Diglycerides, Soy Lecithin, Potassium Sorbate, Calcium Disodium EDTA) Used to Protect Quality, Citric Acid, Artificial Flavor, Vitamin A (Palmitate)Beta Carotene (for Color)
This might be my next “What’s In It? Wednesday” post!!! Maybe which fake butters are healthier than others. The partially hydrogenated soy bean makes me worry.
Good luck with the blood work!

Thanks for your input. I’m just following doctor’s orders and if she says “No butter” then no “real” butter it is.

I agree with Greta! If it’s not real, don’t eat it! The partially hydrogenated soy bean is not a good thing. I have been slowly getting my family to eat natural real food, it’s a challenge with some things, and it does take some time to do your research.

you can try to mix a combo of 1/2 olive or canola oil and 1/2 butter then putting that in the fridge to use. It is called best butter by Elson Haas
