Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
Ha! When I typed that title it made me think of the old Veggie Tales song, “I Love My Lips”. Remember that? Anyway, I digress. What I really meant is when you are planning your summer fun, don’t forget your lips. Yes, I know they are attached to your face so you can’t forget to bring them with you<silly>. Don’t forget to protect your lips. Whether your summer plans include a family vacation, a trip to the beach or a backyard barbecue, don’t forget the Carmex®.

You can ensure your pucker is always on point this summer with these pocket-sized travel essentials from Carmex® and tips from Shannon Tor, Director of Research & Development for Carma Laboratories, the company that makes Carmex® lip balms!

  • Soaring temps can leave your lips dehydrated because “your lips don’t have any oil-producing or sebaceous glands so the only moisture they get is from saliva,” explains Shannon Tor. Saliva in turn “evaporates quickly and enzymes in which dissolve oils, which can actually lead to dry, chapped lips.” Be sure to pack Carmex® Lip Balm ($1.59) in a tube to keep them hydrated!
  • Hotter weather can leave your makeup melting so this summer go lipstick-free and instead sport well moisturized and protected lips with the Carmex® Protecting Lip Balm Sticks ($1.59). Plus, Shannon Tor explains that your natural lips are designed to be flaunted “since your lips have fewer layers of skin than the rest of your body, underlying blood vessels, blood-filled capillaries, are close to the surface, giving your lips a reddish or pink tint.”
  • With summer often comes summer romance so before you pucker up, turn to the Carmex® Lip Balm ($1.59) that has been around for 77 years to make your pucker memorable! Shannon Tor explains that “a lip balm is only as effective as the ingredients in the formula” and that the time-tested formula of the Carmex® Lip Balm “contains camphor and menthol to soothe severely dry lips and petrolatum to create a long-lasting protective barrier.

I have been using the Carmex® Pomegranate with SPF 15 for the last week or so and my lips feel soft and moisturized and I like the flavor too.

Do you use a lip balm with sunscreen while you are out in the hot summer sun? What is your favorite flavor? Leave me a comment and let me know.
