One of the things I have always wanted to do at SeaWorld is Dine with Shamu and last Saturday, we finally had the opportunity to do it! It is a very memorable family dining experience and now through December 25, 2012 you can Dine with Shamu and save money too! Currently this immersive dining experience is only $29 for adults and $19 for kids 3-9 (park admission required) and right now you can receive a FREE child’s meal with each new full-paid adult reservation made before December 25, 2012. Reservations can be made online or at the in-park reservations center.

We were escorted to our table by a waiter. Each table had your silverware, napkin, glass and a pitcher of water all ready for you. As we were seated we were informed that the buffet was open and we could go right up and get our food. the presentation of the buffet was very nice and the seasonal menu included something for everyone. All items served at Dine with Shamu are seasonable, fresh and sustainable.

Our menu included:

  • All-natural, grain-fed Black Angus strip loin
  • 100% natural cinnamon-cured roasted pork loin with apple-cranberry chutney
  • Rosemary-glazed free range grilled chicken
  • Filet of Cod (certified sustainable)
  • Seasonal sides including lemon butter herb roasted red potatoes, summer vegetable lo mein, cucumber salad, mixed green salad, summer fruit salad, coconut Caribbean rice
  • Baked goods made fresh at SeaWorld
  • Signature desserts-Red Velvet Cake, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Cake and Key Lime Pie
  • Special Kids Buffet

During the entire meal there were 1-2 killer whales swimming in the tank next to us. As we were finishing our main course the trainers and more whales came out and we got an incredible glimpse into the interactions that occur between the SeaWorld trainers and the whales. It was both educational and entertaining.

We had a great time and a delicious meal. The only negative, as you can see in the bottom center picture above, is that the area is very crowded. The tables are very close together and it is difficult to get from your table to the buffet and back again, especially if you are seated next to the water. The table next to us was a family of 5 and the toddler’s highchair was placed up against our table and the cute little boy kept leaning his head back and almost getting his hair in our food!

My dinner at Dine with Shamu

As you can see I tried all 3 of the meats. I am usually a beef girl and while the beef was tasty my favorite was the cinnamon-cured roasted pork loin with apple-cranberry chutney, I have to find a recipe for this! The Red Velvet Cake was delicious but there was too much icing for my taste. We all enjoyed our meal and highly recommend that you make your reservations now to take advantage of the special low price for the Dine with Shamu experience at SeaWorld Orlando.

After our meal we headed down to the killer whale underwater viewing area. Why did I not know this area existed? Anyway, Jordan shot this video of the whales playing.

Disclosure: We enjoyed a day in the park and the Dine with Shamu experience for the purpose of this review. All opinions are 100% mine.

I got to see the shamu show on an anniversary trip a couple years ago but eating dinner like that would have been even more fun. What a great opportunity.
