During my Back to School Bash I told you about the great deals at Sears Optical. I also told you that I had made an appointment for my own eye exam at Sears Optical and that I would let you know how it went. This is that story…

Sears Optical allows you to make your eye exam appointments right on their website, I like that. In just a few clicks I was able to see when the doctor was available, which at the Bradenton, FL office wasn’t that often. I made my appointment for Friday, August 31, the only Friday the doctor was working in the Bradenton office. About a week before my appointment I got a phone message saying the doctor would not be in the office on the 31st and I needed to call to reschedule. I called back the next day and Terry answered the phone. I told her that they had called and said I needed to reschedule my appointment. She told me she was too busy to help me and could I call back later, then she hung up! Umm, no! That is not how you should ever treat a customer. I hopped online and canceled my appointment in Bradenton and made an appointment for the same day and time at the Sarasota Sears Optical, 30  minutes away from my home.

My husband drove me to my appointment on the 31st because I knew my eyes would be dilated and I shouldn’t drive home. When we arrived we were greeted by Colleen who had me fill out some paperwork and told me to take a look at the frames until the doctor called me, so I did. Soon Dr Krill called me back to the exam room. We chatted a bit, I told him I knew I was way overdue for new glasses. He performed a very complete eye exam and probably one of the most thorough refractions I have ever had. (I used to be an ophthalmic technician and I’ve never seen anyone be that precise during a refraction). He dilated my pupils and I went back out to try on more frames while the drops went to work.

After about 15 minutes I went back in so Dr Krill could finish the exam. My macula looks good and my eye pressure was normal 🙂 I thanked Dr Krill and headed out front to order my glasses. I wear progressive lenses (yes, I’m that old) so I met with the optician and we chose a pair of frames for clear lenses and a pair of sunglasses. They had a special where I could get 2 pairs of glasses for $269! I placed the order and paid and was told to come back in 2 weeks to pick up my glasses.

I finally was able to get back to Sarasota last week to pick up my new glasses similar to aviator prescription glasses uk and I am VERY happy with the results. I can see again! Everything is so clear and my reading is much easier now than it was before, now I can catch up on all the book reviews that I have been putting off! You can visit SearsOptical.com to see their current special offers and to make your eye exam appointment today.

I want to thank Dr Krill, Collen & Cindy at the Sarasota Sears Optical for turning around what started as a negative experience in Bradenton into a positive experience in Sarasota.

Yay for new glasses. I went to a local place this summer for an eye exam and new glasses. They had me look at glasses after my appointment when my eyes were dilated. Then, they didn’t help me find a pair at all. They just sat there and told me to help myself. Luckily, my boyfriend was there and he helped me pick out a pair. I’ve been going to this place for years but I was dis-pleased with the service this time. I may go somewhere else next time. Sears may be a good place to look.

Hopefully Sears will see your bad experience and get that corrected.

I’m happy that you had a good experience. I’d make a complaint about the first office because Sears usually has excellent customer service.

I hope Sears sees the bad service of your first visit and does something about it. Glad you were able to get an appointment and new glasses. My mom uses Sears Optical too and she has had good experiences with hers for years now.
