Happy Win it Wednesday! This week and next I am working the last 2 Sharathons of the year. This week’s is the slowest, I don’t know what the deal is with the listeners in Dothan, AL but it is like pulling teeth to get them to support their local Christian radio station financially. It only takes 2-3 people to man the phones for this event and I am one of the 3. I’ve never worked this event before, but I had been warned to bring books, lots of them because there is a lot of down time.
My problem is I own a lot of books on my iPad Kindle app and no real, paper paged books that I haven’t read. Well that’s not true, I have several non-fiction real books waiting to be read. I can’t read non-fiction in Phone Central though…because I need a pen or a highlighter and those two items are banned. They are banned for the same reason I can’t have my iPad in there-PCI Compliance. PCI Compliance is a wonderful thing, it is what keeps your credit and debit card information safe. You see, because we take your card info over the phone there are no pens, pencils, phones, cameras, iPads or other recording devices allowed in the room.
I am a copious note taker and maker when I read non-fiction and I can’t do that in Phone Central. So far this Sharathon season I have read 6 Karen Kingsbury novels and one Beverly Lewis novel. Hopefully I have enough stashed away and picked up from the library to get me through this week and next week. Do you have a favorite Christian fiction author? I need to find more before Friendraiser season starts in February!
