I used to make this pie many many years ago. It was just a recipe written down by my mother in law. No name. I lost the recipe and had not been able to find it. I am so excited to finally find it!

This pie was such a huge hit! So long story short, my boyfriend is a chef and not a big fan of sweets in general- it was his birthday dinner- so in place of a cake I asked him what his favorite pie is and he said Amish style peanut butter.
I like to bake, but was intimidated to make a pie deemed Amish (I think its part of their genetic makeup to be be able to pie-make!) Anyway, I made it with love and followed this recipe – WOW! talk about crowd-pleaser. Chef boyfriend said I LOVE this pie- I’ve never heard him rave over any dessert, so thanks for helping me make his day even more special:)

My custard was too thick. Didn’t seem to be until it was chilled. Taste lumpy and too firm. Not the creamy taste I’m used too. Maybe less cornstarch???

Yoder’s Is THE best! We drive from Orlando just to eat there. I make this from their recipe as well but make the chocolate Peanut Butter Pie. Yummy!

First of all, I am obsessed with this pie in real life. I insist on a pie trip to Yoder’s EVERY time I visit my family in Sarasota. The pie was surprisingly easy to “reproduce” at home and was a HUGE hit at the dinner party for which I made it. I substituted graham cracker crust, as I am not great with pastry. It was actually really tasty, although I did feel badly messing with the classic. The pudding did not seem to have the right consistency after chilling (a bit gloppy), but when assembled it all came together beautifully. All in all, I was very pleased and will make again.
