A few weeks ago I got my itinerary for Disney Social Media Moms and I went right to Friday’s schedule to see who the speakers were. I already knew Chris Brogan would be there (yay!) but who was this Rene Syler? This is what it said ” Rene Syler has had the opportunity to interview famous faces, political personalities and countless authors during her four year position as one of the anchors of The Early Show at CBS. In March 2007, Rene’s first book Good Enough Mother: The Perfectly Imperfect Book of Parenting was published by Simon Spotlight Entertainment. From that her website , www.goodenoughmother.com was born.” I was intrigued. I checked out her website and knew I was in for a treat come Friday! This post isn’t about how awesome, real, transparent, inspiring, amazing, beautiful and talented Rene is (and she really is)though! It is about Dancing with the Stars.
On March 21, 2011 I tuned in to the season 12 debut of Dancing With the Stars and…as I always do I opened up Tweetdeck so I could chat with other #dwts fans in our supportive and often snarky fashion. This is when I found out Rene was a big fan too and we enjoyed tweeting about the show together.
Last night, episode 2 we joined our fellow #dwts fans and Rene tweeted “OKay, I MUST do this show and I MUST be partnered with Maks and I MUST do a dance where I get to lock lips with him at the end. I will not die happy until that happens. #wishfulthinking“.
So I tweeted “@abc_dwts We want @ReneSyler on next season with @MaksimC as her partner!” which Rene and others then retweeted. So then a plan began to hatch in my slightly warped brain…why not start a social media campaign? It might work, right so I tweeted, “@ReneSyler Hmmm I’m thinking our pitch to get you on @abc_dwtscould be tomorrow’s blog post with a linky petition! Thoughts?” Her reply was, “@MomMaven GO FOR IT!” So here we are. Rene is a celebrity and she has an important message to share about breast cancer and re-invention. She is beautiful inside and out and she has a wonderful personality. Being on Dancing With the Stars would be another step in her re-invention journey and it could be a step back into the public eye for the new and improved Rene Syler.
If you have never heard of Rene Syler check out her website GoodEnoughMother.com, search for her on YouTube there are lots of videos of her interviews, or ask anyone who went to Disney Social Media Moms, just use the #disneysmmoms and I’m sure you’ll get a positive response. I fell in love with Rene Syler on 3/18/11 and you will fall in love with her too! We figure, social media got Betty White on SNL, why can’t it get Rene on DWTS? i’ve had the pleasure of ‘knowing’ rene for a few years now and she is as amazing as she is down to earth…i already knew that i was a good enough mother but she just confirmed it for me! go rene! xoxoox
I thhink this is such a “COOL” idea. Rene’ is a professional, but she is “CRAZY” and loves to have “FUN”. She is definitely a people person. She was a local anchorwoman here in Dallas, Texas for many years andwe really sad when she left. She’s not stuck, conceded, or anyo of that type of stuff that a lot of famous people or VIP type people are. Many times when you are “FRIENDS” with celebrity type people on “FACEBOOK”, “MYSPACE”, or “TWITTER” even though you leave nice comments and stuff for them, a lot never answer you. Not Rene’!!!! If you say something to her on her Good Enough Mother page, or her “FACEBOOK” page, most times she will respond to you. Can’t expect her to respond to everybody, after all she is a very woman. I hope we can get her to DWTS!!!

Rene would definitely enhance the show, in ways beyond words!!!!! She would be phenomenal. The only reason I even watch DWTS now, is because Rene tweets about it. I hope the producers of the show really take this petition seriously!

Wife, mother, media personality, author. These are just some of the ways to describe Rene. I think another adjective that would be a good fit would be “dancing queen.” Or some variation of it! Go, Rene!
