One of the causes I am passionate about is the fact that I am 100% Pro-Life. I am well acquainted with both sides of this heated debate. Thirty plus years ago I was single, pregnant and scared. My “boyfriend” at the time sent me to get an abortion. I agreed, I was in college, at the top of my game I didn’t need this “problem” to ruin my life. My friend brought me to the clinic and thankfully I was at a clinic with a law abiding abortionist because he examined me and determined I was too far along to legally have an abortion. I left school, went home and after much discussion, including an option to go to Europe for an abortion, my parents and I decided I would keep the baby and raise her with the support of my family. I shared my daughter, Brynn’s story with you in my post Thirty Years, so I won’t re-tell it again here. I say all that to tell you what I have learned along the way, abortion is murder and murder is illegal therefore abortion should be illegal.
About Voiceless
VOICELESS tackles the controversial pro-life vs. pro-choice debate with conviction and compassion, and presents that the true choice is one the church must make. Necerato and Migdon have walked a fine line with making an impactful film that doesn’t alienate, but rather starts a conversation, and in fact has been praised by pro-choice viewers. The winner of multiple awards, Voiceless has been honored as Northeast Film Festival’s Best Feature and People’s Choice for Best Feature Film and Best Feature Film from the California Independent Film Festival.
Battling his own inner-demons, Jesse (Rusty Joiner: Last Ounce Of Courage, Dodgeball, “Days of Our Lives”) encounters a young, pregnant teen overcome with grief that, after an impulsive abortion, has her family blaming Jesse for more than just her final decision. Jesse’s wife Julia (Jocelyn Cruz: Strike One, This Is Our Time) must come to terms with her own choices and decide if she can support her husband as opposition mounts against him. Comedian Paul Rodriguez also stars as Virgil with James Russo as Pastor Gil.
Mom Maven’s Thoughts on Voiceless
My husband and I watched Voiceless together the other night and we agree on our review of the movie. The message is wonderful, we, the Christian church need to do more to combat the abortion industry. There are many ways to this goal and the movie focuses on doing this passively, by opening a teen center and sharing the love of Jesus with the young people who come in. The movie also shows the main character actively reaching out to women before they enter the clinic, which often leads to confrontation instead of conversion. The acting in this movie was good, better than many Christian movies we have reviewed.
Our problem with Voiceless was the pacing. It was a very slow moving movie and we both almost fell asleep while watching it. The cinematography is also very dark and dingy, even in the homes and church which made it overall depressing. Couple that with the slow moving story and the good message could easily be lost.
Voiceless will be in theaters October 7th. See it for yourself, the message is good and hopefully it will encourage more Christians to step out of their comfort zones and get on the front lines of the pro-life battle.
