I might also add Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (NKJV).” Teens are not very good at thinking about consequences, so I think it is important to explain what negative things will result from a particular behavior.

This is a great article. My background is working with troubled teens, and boy it sure matters what the parents model. By the time parents know they are in trouble and maybe should have made better decisions, the teen has bad habits, hormones, peer pressure, list goes on. Start small before you get to that point!
