SpellQuizzer is an easy to use software that helps your child learn their weekly spelling list without having to write them over and over again. Yes, I know writing them is a good way to learn spelling words and kids should spend some of their study time every week writing their words, but SpellQuizzer is another tool that families can use to aid in learning.

Each week you input that week’s spelling list and then your child can study his spelling words even when you aren’t available to dictate the words to them. We used it this week for our Bible class. My boys had to know the books of the Bible in order and be able to spell them correctly. I input they words, it just took a few minutes to set up, and then they used SpellQuizzer to practice the words. It worked great!

The SpellQuizzer website has some downloadable spelling lists that you can use over the summer for enrichment or homeschoolers could use them too. Since you create the spelling list in SpellQuizzer, it works with any spelling curriculum.

momAgenda Review and Giveaway

I love to be organized and I love tools that help me to organize my life. The momAgenda is one of those tools. The momAgenda is a day planner for moms created by a mom. A mom’s life is different than that of a business man. For years I have tried to make various planners, agendas and PDAs function for my life as a homeschooling mom who works outside the home part time. Mom has to manage more than her own schedule though. She is also in charge of the kid’s schedules and often dad’s too. A normal calendar or day planner doesn’t allow for all of that. The momAgenda does all that and more.

As you can see in the photo, the week runs Monday through Sunday. The top portion of the page is for mom’s schedule and to-dos and is broken into AM, NOON, and PM. Below that are slots for 4 additional schedules (kids and husband) and then at the bottom is a slot for dinner! How awesome is that?

In the front of the book there is reference material including favorite websites, online resources, important toll free numbers, and holidays. Each month starts with a monthly calendar so you can see the big picture and that is followed by the weekly calendar pages. In the back of the momAgenda there is a mini 2010 calendar so you can make note of any birthdays, anniversarys or upcoming plans before you get your next year’s momAgenda. The back also features pages for you to notate books to read, movies to watch, gifts to purchase, party planning notes, vacation planning guide and lots of blank pages for you to fill however you wish. Also in the back is a removable momEssentials booklet which is an address book, phone book and so much more.

Me Time

As a busy wife and homeschooling mom of 2 teenage boys, finding time for myself isn’t always easy. My goal is 30 minutes a day to do what I want for me. That might mean reading a book, playing a video game or taking a bubble bath. The activity doesn’t matter as long as it is for me to relax. I have been getting some great me time ideas from fun website appropriately named Me Time.

Me Time has great blogs and ideas for helping busy women relax and recharge. Me Time also has adorable and very comfortable t-shirts. Mine says “When mom is happy, everyone’s happy”. Here is a picture of me from last Friday when I had some me time at Prime Outlets Ellenton, FL.
Yesterday I had a great me time day. My mother-in-law took the boys to Bush Gardens and I spent the day with my mom. I got to relax and get my hair done an then we went out to dinner. It was a wonderful way to recharge my batteries.
