This week I’ve been focusing on some goals for the new year. I have several bopping around in my head but only one has been committed to so far. I’ve joined an online book club through Anchored Women. We will be reading and discussing one book a month. I love to read, but seldom make time to do so. This year we have 9 non-fiction books and 3 novels so it should be interesting.

Yesterday Color Street launched a fun new collection of glitter overlays in the Frills and Thrills Collection. This collection consists of 3 sets: Raise the Roof-rainbow bar glitter, Fancy Pants-fuscia and rose gold glitter, and Have a Ball-navy and silver glitter. Each set is only $12 and they all look amazing over solid sets. You can check them out on my website.

Sunday Ron and I will head to Magic Kingdom after church. It’s time to renew our passes and because of all the changes, we have to do it in person. Once we get our new passes, I can get our park reservations for our December Walt Disney World vacation!

I haven’t been to Magic Kingdom since May so I am really looking forward to spending a few hours there and maybe even seeing Disney Enchantment, the new fireworks spectacular. I may have missed out on seeing Magic Kingdom decked out in her fall finery but now she’s dressed up for Christmas and her 50th anniversary so I’m sure I’ll be taking a lot of pictures!

We spent this past Friday and Saturday at Walt Disney World and it was a nice break from reality. We got to ride the new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride in EPCOT which opens October 1. Its a fun ride, too short in my opinion though. On Saturday we got to ride Rise of the Resistance for the second time, its and amazing attraction. We had planned on spending the evening at Magic Kingdom to see Happily Ever After one more time before it is replace but my feet were aching so we headed home instead.

Add to the busyness the fact that Monday, as we were walking to the car to go to rehearsal for the musical, we got a text informing us that Ron’s dad had unexpectedly passed away. He was in a rehab facility and was to be released on Thursday to his new home at an assisted living facility. He was fine during the day, had a good physical therapy session and then in the afternoon he was found slumped over, unresponsive in his chair.

Thankfully he knew Jesus as his Lord and Savior and lived for Him for many, many years. We know that he is in heaven and that his earthly death is a graduation to his eternal home. Yes, we who remain are grieving but having that blessed hope makes the process easier.

Locally this week is Spring Break. For me that really just means that I don’t have piano lessons to teach. I’m still busy as always. Yesterday Color Street launched their 2021 Spring/Summer catalog which includes 9 brand new shades, 5 shades which were limited time only have now become regular shades and they have all been added to the rest of the catalog. If you are a long time reader you know that one of my favorite seasonal gigs is answering phones for the fundraising events of the Christian radio stations that are part of RTN. This March we have The Joy FM this week and a combo KWND and WAFJ the week of the 22nd. My days at the radio station are usually 5:30am-8:15pm. Long but fun and fulfilling.

One of my other seasonal gigs is being part of the tech team for Woodland Fine Arts Academy. I run the accompaniment tracks for their musical theatre productions. This is production week for their Select Troupe’s production of “James and the Giant Peach”. We had an 8 hour tech rehearsal on Saturday. Monday-Wednesday evenings we rehearse from 5:30-9pm. Thursday we have a morning performance for school children, then we have public performances Friday evening and Saturday matinee.

Since both events collided on the same week, I’m at the radio station 5:30am-4pm and at WFA 5:30-9pm. Please pray for me this week. Both of the jobs require a lot of focus and attention to detail. Pray for that as well as restorative sleep each evening. I’m excited for all this week holds but I also know I will be exhausted.

I sat on the couch at 6:10pm Friday night. At 6:11pm I got a phone call from my father-in-law (who is in a post Covid rehab center regaining his strength) saying his wife was back in the hospital (she had been out of post Covid rehab for 6 days) because she almost fainted at the doctor’s office. Since Ron and Jordan were working the conference, Aaron and I had to jump into action.

MIL’s car was still at doctor’s office and she had left her phone in the car. After 3 hours of picking up the car, caring for their cats, and delivering her phone and charger to the ER, I made it back home. Hubby arrived home about 20 minutes later.

The plan, when they were both in rehab, was that MIL would come home for about 6 months to help clear out the house while FIL would go directly to an Assisted Living Facility. With this recent turn of events, they are both going to the ALF whenever they are discharged.

This is a hard, and sudden change for everyone involved. Please pray for our family as we make this transition.

Now that they are married adults, I get them and their wives a little something to remind them how much we love them. As far as Ron and I go, it is usually low key and involves chocolate, flowers, and steak

This year I had a huge plan and I was working so hard to pull it off. We were supposed to cruise on the Carnival Mardi Gras May 15-22nd. Our final payment was due 2-14-21. Ron’s business is down 85% due to Covid so I decided that I would pay off our cruise so he didn’t have to worry about it.

Each time I got paid for my blog, teaching piano, or selling Color Street, I would put money towards are cruise. I budgeted it out so that I would make the final payment February 13th. I was so excited!!!

On January 22nd we got the word we had been fearing, our cruise was cancelled due to the fact that the CDC and the cruise lines haven’t come to an agreement on the requirements for cruising in a Covid world. There is a lot I could say here…but I won’t. I did tell Ron what I was doing and he was very thankful and impressed at what I was accomplishing. Now I needed a plan B Valentines gift!
