My May Beauty Box 5 arrived just in time! I was packing for our cruise! When we cruise we dress up for dinner every night. Since I am getting dressed up I am going to need some new makeup right? I took 3 of the items from my May Beauty Box 5 on the cruise with me. This month’s box included 5 full size products and a bonus sample sixth product!

This scrubber was amazing! I packed this instead of my usual bath pouf and it did a great job. I love that it is affordable at $5.00. I’m going to pick up another one for our cruise in August. With this exfoliating body scrubber you can buff away roughness and cleanse deeply, it works for all skin types too.

Cougar Beauty 24 Hour Liquid Lipstick

This long-lasting formula will remain flawlessly in place throughout the warmest summer night. I used this lipstick one of the nights and it lasted all night long! Retails for $12.99.

Jersey Shore Cosmetics Mongongo Lip Conditioner

Use this all natural, organic lip balm before and after applying liquid lipstick for a moisturized lip. The coconut scent smells like summer! Retails for $10.00. I am not a coconut fan but I added this lip balm to my cruise tote because dry lips are annoying.

Jelly Pong Pong Bare Necessities Highlighting Pencil

I am still figuring out how best to use this versatile peachy pencil. You can use it as an eyeshadow base, hightlighter, and/or concealer. It retails for $17.95.

Nanacoco Jumbo Eye & Lip Pencil

I love this beautiful thick plum eye pencil. It works great as a liner or shadow. For me, the purple color doesn’t work well as a lip color. Retails for $5.50.

De La Cruz Arnica Salve

This bonus item is a 0.12 ounce tub of salve for cracked skin. I haven’t needed to use it yet but it is in my back for when I do.

April Beauty Box 5 Samples

I know we are a week into May and I am just posting my April Beauty Box 5 review. My box arrived later than normal and I was out of the office for 2 weeks volunteering in Phone Central for Christian Radio Stations in South Carolina and Georgia. Anyway, I am here now and this box has some pretty cool products. If you missed getting the April box don’t despair, you can visit the Beauty Box 5 Shop and pick up products you are interested in.

What was in the April 2017 Beauty Box 5 Box?

Sweep Rose Gold Lash Curler

This curler retails for $15.99 so this month’s box is already worth more than the monthly subscription price. I’ve never been a fan of lash curlers but I gave this one a try. I have short, light blonde eyelashes and as usual, I found using this tool difficult. I was intrigued that the directions said to use this before applying mascara, I’ve always curled after applying mascara. I guess I have been wrong all these years!

BB5 highlight Fan Brush

It is a treat to receive 2 tools in one box. This brush retails for $12 so this box is an awesome value. This pro fan brush is ideal for dusting shimmer along the high points of your face or sweeping on color for a diffused look.

Be a Bombshell Blush

I love a good blush and these highly pigmented hues can be used as blush, bronzer, or highlighter for an allover glow. I received this blush in the color “Cougar” and I am loving it! This retails for $6.

Did Hair Gold Bobby Pins

Bobby pins seem like such a simple accessory but these gold ones add some flair. Metallic accents are all the rage so why not use these gold bobby pins to accent and secure your favorite hairdo? Retail price $8 for 12 bobby pins.

Jean Pierre Vitamin C Sheet Mask

I love pampering myself with at home facial masks. This brightening and hydrating mask contains Vitamin C to lighten dark spots for an anti-aging spa treatment at home. These retail for $12.99 for a set of 5, we received one mask.

February 2015 Beauty Box 5 Review

I am pleased to tell you this month’s box is better. It isn’t filled with drugstore brands. This month we have Marsk, Revlon, Absolute New York, Avon and Glam Glow.

Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow

This eyeshadow came in Vanilla Frosting aka white. It is iridescent with a little sparkle and works well as an accent on your eyes or even as a soft highlighter. I wore this as an accent color on my eyelids and it lasted several hours and kept me looking good. A 0.04oz container sells for $22.50.

Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamel

I painted my toenails with this durable polish. My only question is the color. Why, at this time of the year, would you send out a nail color named “fall”? I have the color on my toes and it is blah. It is too close to my skin color so it doesn’t pop at all. A 0.4oz bottle sells for $3.99

Absolute New York Absolute Love Lip Balm

I like the bubblegum scent and sweet flavor of this lip balm. The balm lasts for hours and does a good job keeping my lips moist. Personally, I am not a fan of lip balm in a pot. I hate putting my dirty fingers in there over and over again and spreading it on my lips, it just seems very unhygienic to me.

Avon Big Color Eye Pencil

I love Avon products. In my opinion, you can’t beat their quality or their price. This eye pencil is perfect for thick eyeliner and eye shadow in one. It lasted about 4 hours without using a primer under it. If you use a primer you should get a longer wear time. A 0.056oz pencil costs $3.49.

GlamGlow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment

This was the product I was most anxious to try. I love a good mask I was not disappointed with this one. This anti-aging mask tingles while it works. It has an odd tingly and cooling sensation throughout the 10 minutes it is applied to your face. After using the mask my face felt A-Maz-Ing! I wish I could use this regularly but at $69 for a 1.7oz container it just doesn’t fit in my budget.

January 2015 Beauty Box 5 Review

This month’s box included 1 product I already use on a regular basis, 1 product I have used in the past, 1 product I have purchased but never used and 2 products/brands that were new to me. The Garnier Fructis Daily Care Shampoo is the product that I already use. I rotate between two shampoo brands and Garnier Fructis is one of them. It always leaves my hair healthy, strong and shiny. I popped this travel size bottle right into my travel bag so it will be ready for my next trip. I do wish they had sent the conditioner too because well, they go together!

The Softsoap Nutri Serums Body Wash is the product I have used in the past. I prefer thicker body washes over gels like this one but this will work in a pinch. It has also found its way to my travel bag.

The Sally Hansen Salon Effects is the product I have purchased but not used. I picked some up on a clearance sale last year but when I brought them home and read the directions it seemed too complicated to bother. Since they came in my box this month, I decided I should finally try them.

They are not as complicated to put on as I thought they would be. They are definitely easier than the kind that requires heat. That being said I have a few problems with them.

They smell. The moment I opened the package I was overwhelmed with the noxious nail polish smell. Unfortunately, even after 24 hours of wear, that smell hasn’t really lessened. Due to the smell, I had trouble sleeping. I sleep curled up on my side with my hands near my face and all I could smell was nail polish. I actually considered trying to sleep with my gloves on.
While they are easier to put on, it is still difficult. As you can see from the image above, the wrap on my middle finger ripped during application and others just don’t fit right.
They are supposed to last 10 days but after 24 hours the tips of 2 of my nails are already showing wear.

The Coastal Scents Eye Shadow contains nice deep colors that go one well and last a long time. I have never heard of this brand before but it worked well for me.

The Ultraflesh Mascara is the product that actually has me a bit concerned. I am very picky about mascara, but I gave this one a try. I wasn’t excited about how prickly the brush felt during application-it was weird. About 5 hours after application my eyes started getting red, itchy and watery, so I immediately removed the mascara. It was then I discovered that the website listed on the box is no longer available and their Facebook page hasn’t been updated since 2011! After searching out reviews of this month’s box from several other reviewers the conclusion seems to be that this is old product and probably outdated. This makes me very upset with Beauty Box 5 and I have reached out to them via email about my concern.

Over all this month’s box was mediocre at best. The idea of beauty Box 5 is to get to try new beauty products not drugstore items (3 products) and an outdated product. I hope Beauty Box 5 steps up their game or I’ll have to leave their bloggers program. Here’s hoping next month’s box is better.

December 2014 Beauty Box 5 Review

I dove right in to try out the products for you so that I could get this post up before the new year.

Starting on the top left we have the Jaqua Pink Champagne Hand & Body Lotion. While I am not a huge fan of this particular scent, I adore this lotion! I used it before bed and 18 hours and several hand washings later, my hands still feel silky smooth and not at all greasy. I think I’d like to try their Buttercream Frosting Scent! It is available in 8.5oz pump bottles for $22.00.

On the top right we have the Nanacoco Nail Polish. This month we get green sparkles. These would look great over a white or pearl nail polish. The bottom left is the Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer. I have yet to try this because I don’t want to love it. It sells for $65.00 for 1.7oz! In the middle of the picture is the Lucky Number 6 Perfume which…was not a hit at the Schultz household. I put 1 spritz on my wrist and everyone said I smelled like an old lady. So much for that perfume, LOL!

Last we have the Absolute! New York Nail Polish Remover Pads. these arrived at the perfect time because it was past time for me to remove the nail polish from the wedding. It is always difficult removing the polish from a professional manicure but with a little rubbing, these cloths worked well. For me, one cloth did about 3 nails. I feel the cloths are a little small, but I know they are supposed to be portable so that is why they are so small. The nail polish remover worked well and left my nails feeling hydrated instead of dried out.

October Beauty Box 5 Review

It included a lip/cheek stain, nail polish (again), a Lashem Serum (again), Chapstick and a beauty tool. The overall value of the products received was about $36 so if you subscribe to Beauty Box 5 with the annual subscription you are paying just over $8 a month and that, of course is a great savings to try some new products!

The October 2014 Beauty Box Products

Hydration Lock Chapstick

If you are a regular reader you know I have a preferred brand of lip balm. For the sake of this review, I put away my usual product and used this Chapstick for a week, and I was not impressed. This dual sided Chapstick is supposed to include a moisture formula and a renewing formula. Out of the two, I liked the renewing side better but I had to reapply hourly! That never happens with my regular lip balm. Also, because this is 2 lip balms in one, the tube is longer and didn’t fit comfortably in my pocket, which was annoying.

Nanacoco Nail Polish

I have yet to try this beautiful Mermaid Lake color nail polish I received. I can’t wait to paint my toes with it. I love that it is affordable nail color, retailing for $3.95 a bottle.

Lashem Picture Perfect Serum

as I told you last month, I am not much of a serum person. Even at age 50, I’m not dealing with a lot of wrinkle issues because I have worked hard to take good care of my skin. That being said, this serum can also be used as a primer which gives you a nice smooth canvas to apply your make-up on.

Bella Pierre Lip/Cheek Stain

This is the big ticket item in this month’s box. The Bella Pierre lip/cheek stain retails for $19.99. I tried it on both my lips and my cheeks and I was not impressed with the coverage or this product’s ability to last. I have a feeling a certain 20 year old girl feels differently though. This product disappeared from my bathroom vanity and I have a pretty good feeling it is in her make-up bag!

Extend Your Beauty

I haven’t needed to use this unique beauty tool yet but I love the concept! This handy spatula grabs that hard-to-reach last bit of product so that nothing is wasted.

This wasn’t the best month for my Beauty Box 5 subscription but I love the nail polish color so I’ll call that a win!

Beauty Box 5 August Review

It contained a black sparkle nail polish and a hot pink lip gloss. Two colors most 50 yr old women don’t wear. It also contained sunscreen, make-up wipes and a keratin hair treatment. Compared to most months, I wasn’t excited to try these particular products. Let me break them down for you.

Purlisse Pur Protect SPF 30 Sunscreen-I have not tested this yet, it has been a very rainy few weeks here in Florida. When I do wear it I truly hope it does something magical to my skin because the $55.00 price tag for 1.5oz of sunscreen is way out of my budget, and I use sunscreen all the time!

Novex Brazilian Ketatin-I tried this. I have never used a keratin treatment before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Both my husband and I had a hard time reading the tiny print on the directions. When we did read them it said to apply after washing and to cover my head in a plastic bag for 25 minutes before rinsing. I didn’t have a shower cap handy, so I used a 2 gallon zippy bag! I looked crazy and no, I didn’t take a picture. I honestly didn’t notice any difference in my hair after the treatment.

Nanacoco Lip Gloss

-As I said before I wasn’t impressed with the color…until I finally put it on! The hot pink worked very well with my natural lip color. The gloss goes on a bit sticky but it doesn’t stay that way. I love that this lip gloss has vitamin E to help lips stay healthy and pretty at the same time.

Style Essentials Nail Polish-While black sparkle isn’t my normal choice of nail color, I still gave this a try. The polish went on a bit thin and at first I thought I’d need 2 coats but it dried well and a second coat wasn’t needed. I like that there is a delicate sparkle to this polish and I’ll be seeking it out in other colors.

La Fresh Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes-I like makeup remover wipes. I have used several brands over the years and these wipes from La Fresh work well. I love that they come in individual packets so they are easy to pack when you are traveling.

Overall the August box turned out to be better than I expected when I opened it. You can get beauty must-haves delivered to your door every month – Subscriptions under $12 from Beauty Box 5.

July Beauty Box 5 Review

Unfortunately, it was so awesome, I forgot to take pictures of it before I started using the products!

#5 Starlooks Lip Liner retails for $12. This lip liner works great and helps keep lipstick from feathering and lasts all day. Personally I don’t wear lipstick often so I don’t really need a lip liner.

#4 Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara retails for $7.99. I don’t wear a lot of mascara either, but this mascara went on easy and actually went on well, without clumping. It lasted all day without smudging or flaking either.

#3 HASK Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment retails for $2.49. I have been wanting to try this for a while so I was excited when it was in the box! My color-treated, heat damaged hair was very happy after receiving some pampering. I used 1/2 of the packet and plan to use the other half in 2 weeks. That is a greeat bargain at only $1.25 a treatment!

#2 Body Drench Candy Licious Lips retail $3.99. If you are a regular reader you know I am VERY picky about my lip balm. I received the Lemon Drop flavor lip balm and it was yummy, and my hubby likes the flavor better than my usual lip balm The Candy Licious Lips kept my lips soft and moist for hours. The only downside is that it doesn’t have any sun protection.

#1 Anna Naturals Glowing Mama Walnut Face & Body Scrub retails for $10.99. I AM IN LOVE! I love my usual face care routine. My skin stays young, soft and wrinkle free. I was skeptical when I tried this face scrub…but I am hooked! The Walnut Face & Body Scrub left my face feeling soft and moisturized…without adding moisturizer. I am hooked and I need to order more of this!

A monthly subscription to Beauty Box 5 costs $12 or less a month and this month we received over $37 of products! This subscription box is a great way to try new products at a reasonable price.

Review- Beauty Box 5 May

My box did arrive later than usual but this month has been just crazy. Again this month I loved most of the products in the box and I can’t wait to tell you about them!

MaskerAide Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask-Retails for $5.99 per mask. I have never used anything like this before. I enjoyed having the cool mask on my face, it was both refreshing and relaxing. This was very easy to use and it left my skin feeling very soft. I would love to use this product again.
H2O Plus Aqualibrium Marine Cleansing Gel-Retails for $18.00 120ml. This facial cleanser, made with sea salt and energizing marine botanicals left my face feeling clean and fresh. I have already popped this tube into my travel bag so that I can have a fresh face on my next excursion.
Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths-Retails for $2.97 for 10 cloths. We packed these cloths in our backpack for the 24 hour Rock Your Disney Side Party, knowing we would need to freshen up along the way. Unfortunately, none of us liked these cloths at all. They were not cooling and the powdery feeling was mildly refreshing. We were all much happier when I pulled out our usual wipes and baby powder.
Harvey Prince Hello-Retails for $55.00 5.7oz. I like this perfume. It is a perfect light summer fruity scent. I also brought this with me to Disney and it did help me feel and smell better as I battled temperatures in the upper 90s!
CATTIVA Precisione Eye Liner-Retails for $20.00 0.012oz. This eye liner is great. It is a retractable pencil which goes on smooth and is waterproof. Compared to other eye liners I use, CATTIVA’s lasted longer on my eyes and is smudge-resistant. I am happy to add this to my beauty arsenal.

Beauty Box 5 April Review

I am not a girly girl that is into a lot of make-up and beauty stuff but I am totally enjoying getting my Beauty Box 5 box each month. I have discovered some great new products and the April box didn’t disappoint.

The Nika K Hydro lipstick in Concerto is my favorite thing in this month’s box. I love the buff color on my lips and this lipstick kept my lips very moist for several hours before I needed to re-apply. At $4.99 a tube it is also an affordable lipstick option.

The BH Cosmetics California Palette sample was a nice way to try one color from each of the three California palettes: San Francisco, Hollywood and Malibu. I applied the powdered eye shadows with a brush instead of an applicator and it worked well. I did not apply a primer to my lids and the color only lasted about 5 hours of what was a 15 hour day. My favorite of the three palettes is the San Franciso palette.

When I opened the box and found the Bonne Bell lip liner I was taken aback, I didn’t know people still used lip liner, I thought that was a 90’s fad. Nonetheless, I tried it and it worked fine. The warm brick color I received was very close to my natural lip color so I didn’t get that dark lip outline look that was prevalent back in the day.

The Blum Naturals All-Purpose Cleansing Wipes-Fresh Scent are a handy mini-canister of 30 wipes with a convenient key chain attached. This product, which has no synthetic preservatives or fragrances, is paraben-free, has no SLS, is hypo-allergenic, PH Balanced and is not tested on animals, has already found its way into my Disney backpack for our next visit!

I have tried other “glow” or self-tanner lotions before and they have never worked. I am here to tell you the Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer does work. I used it on a Friday, forgot to use it Saturday and on Sunday I noticed horrible jagged tan lines at my ankles and as later confirmed by my husband, on my upper back! Unfortunately, the pictures we took don’t show the tan lines well enough to bother posting. I’m trying to decide if I should use the last 2 days of the sample I have to try and even things out or if I should give up. What do you think?

The retail value for the April Beauty Box 5 box was $16.22 which isn’t a great savings but it was filled with some great make-up so I think that makes this month’s box worth the price.
