Summer and I are both lip balm addicts. The harsh Florida sun dries us out and we both always have lip balm in our pocket or purse. When we went to Disney World the other week we each took a tin of Silly Lips lip balm along for the trip.

Silly Lips introduced its new line of natural lip balms perfect for when you want to add flare to your beauty routine in April 2012. Deepened with enriched ingredients like Shea butter and the purest essential oils, these universal lip balms leave lips feeling soft and smooth. Their lush texture and silky consistency adds serious moisture and shine to thirsty lips. Use it alone or with your favorite lip color!

Modeled after Silly Lips creator and founder Leila Larsen’s closest friends, Tracy, Bekah and Katie, the three lip balms embody the unique personalities of the different women. Use all three balms as a moisturizing base or shinny topcoat to your favorite lipstick or gloss. A number of professional makeup artists use Silly Lips(tm) lip balms to perk up models’ dry lips for national photo shoots. “We love that you can get to know the ‘silly girls’ through their quirky stories located on the back of each box,” Larsen said. “Each girl is unique in her own way and that’s what makes her so beautiful.

Although the company lives by the word ‘silly,’ we do stand by each and every product we create for you by using serious ingredients with the highest of qualities.” Silly Lips(tm) was created in Larsen’s kitchen 6 years ago. Her obsession with lip balm and lip gloss led her to formulating her own recipes and finally ending with the perfect combination of enriched, hydrating ingredients for ultra nourishing moisture and shine in three fun flavors. “The best part is that anyone can relate to these three different and unique girls,” Larsen said. “Or maybe you have a little of each girl inside of you?”

We both love how smooth and moisturized our lips are when we use Silly Lips. The lip balm is great and does exactly what it said it would do, leave our lips soft, smooth and moisturized. Neither of us are fans of lip balm in a tin-it means you have to wash your hands before applying-or have a lip brush available neither of which work well for on-the-go gals. Also, personally, neither of us were comfortable with the pin-up pictures on the tins. Summer said she would never bring it to school or share it with her friends because she was embarrassed by the immodest images and suggestive names (and I totally agree with her). Also, the lip balm melted in our bags. Silly Lips may be made in Florida but its consistency can’t handle the Florida heat. As I said earlier, we both always carry some sort of lip balm in our pocket or purse and we’ve never had a problem like this before with other products.

In the end, the lip balm works great and if you don’t mind the graphics, suggestive names or the tin, it might be a great product for you. We work hard to promote wholesome, modest, teen appropriate products in our home and on our blog and as good as Silly Lips is, it doesn’t fit our standards and IF I had looked at the website instead of just agreeing to review the product based on the email I received, I would have turned down the offer, lesson learned.

Disclosure, we received 3 tins of Silly Lips lip balm for the basis of the review. All opinions are 100% those of this writer and her family.
