Ok, I’ll admit it I am a bit of a Lisa Welchel fan girl. I loved her on Facts of Life back in the day and more recently on Survivor and The Jeff Probst Show. I have read some of her books and now, I get to review her new workout DVD!

About Lisa Welchel’s Everyday Workout for the Everyday Woman

An inspiring and accessible workout from The Facts of Life star and Survivor: Philippines runner-up, international speaker and mother of three, Lisa Whelchel’s Everyday Workout for the Everyday Woman debuted on DVD on December 3, 2013 from Acacia, an RLJ Entertainment, Inc. brand. With the help of her trainer, Lisa leads these workouts geared towards beginners with a friendly, encouraging vibe and modifications for ALL levels plus personal training tips (17 min.) on proper body alignment, engaging the core, and breathing.

As Lisa says, “I’m an everyday woman when it comes to fitness. I know exercise is key for my health and well-being, but I don’t always enjoy doing it. And as a busy working mom, I have a hard time fitting workouts into my schedule. But I’ve learned that having fun with exercise can make all the difference. So I’ve teamed up with trainer Janice Clark to demonstrate two safe, sane, and effective workouts for women of all shapes and sizes. Two more friends join us so we can show three options for each move: beginner (and those with physical limitations), a step up, and challenging.

Lisa adds, “If you’re an everyday woman who wants to be healthier, stronger, more energetic, and have a looser waistband, follow us and have some fun!”

MomMaven’s Thoughts

I have been using Lisa Whelchel’s Everyday Workout for the Everyday Woman for my strength training on alternating days from my running training for the Team Freedom run. I enjoy the workout. it is very well-rounded and when I am done I feel like I have worked out. The workouts are short, which is great for my busy schedule and the bonus features are very informative. I appreciate that all exercises are demonstrated at three different levels of difficulty so that just about anyone can do this workout.

The one problem I had was the beginning of the workout switches between standing work, floor work and back again a few times. I am a larger lady and I can’t just pop up and down quickly. I learned that I have to pause the DVD while transitioning between the two positions, otherwise I missed part of the next exercise. I have also confirmed what I always thought to be true. I have no core strength whatsoever. I truly cannot even do a beginner plank. I try but it just isn’t possible. I will keep trying though.

I recommend this video for anyone who wants to gain body awareness through yoga.

Disclosure: I received a copy of the DVD for the purpose of this review. All opinions are 100% mine. There are affiliate links in this post.
