National Ice Cream Month is Almost Over!

You probably already know about my love for most things ice cream related, but here it is-the end of National Ice Cream monthand the only ice cream realted post is yesterday’s post about the baseball themed ice cream cake I made for my nephew’s birthday. Some of our favorite brands have come out with new ice cream products this summer and while I didn’t eat any, I don’t want to sabotage my Cinch Inch Loss Program, I brought some treats to church to share with our Mpact Clubs earlier this month. You can tell by the looks on their faces they enjoyed these special treats!

The kids enjoyed treats from Popsicle, Good Humor and Klondike!

Here are some of the new treats now available at your local store:

MAGNUM, the world’s most luxurious ice cream bar, has introduced the Mini line of petite treats in Classic and Almond. MAGNUM has also added two new varieties to its traditional-sized bars, which include Mint and Mochaccino.
Breyers Blasts!, the line known for featuring fun mix-ins from the most loved candy and cookie brands has also added four new flavors including Chocolate REESE’S, Golden OREO, Cookies & Cream, OREO Birthday Blast! and Klondike Krunch. Banana Split and S’mores flavors are also available nationwide.
Klondike is taking their famous Original Choco Taco to the next level as they have introduces the Chocolate and Peanut Butter varieties, as well as the new Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich.
Good Humor has added to their classic candy treats after last year’s successful introduction of REESE’S Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cup. They now offer Mounds and York Ice Cream Bars.
Popsicle introduced an unexpected new line: Yosicle, which combines ice pops with combining ice pops and the smoothness of yogurt. Popsicle also partnered with SOUR PATCH KIDS to introduce fruity, candy-inspired pops that replicate the sour then sweet taste of the classic candy.

Blue Bunny Ice Cream Treats

National Ice Cream Month is drawing to a close but I have 1 more ice cream giveaway for you! Recently cooler full of ice cream treats arrived at our door. There were Blue Bunny Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches, Champ Mini Swirls Cones and Champ Mini Swirls Birthday Party.

I had seen the Champ Mini Swirls Cones at Walmart and they looked so small I thought, “Who would want to eat something that tiny?” Now that I have tried them I will tell you, they are just the right size! The reduced size means fewer calories too so it is actually a perfect way to have a treat and portion control at the same time!

My favorite Blue Bunny flavor is Birthday Party so needless to say the Champ Mini Swirls Birthday Party Cones were my favorite treat! My sons liked the Champ Mini Swirls Cones best and hubby’s favorite were the Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches (which have 8 vanilla and 8 chocolate sandwiches in a box).

I will say there is one thing I don’t like about the Champ Mini Swirls Birthday Party Cones…they’re messy. The sprinkles are on the white chocolate shell so when you bite into the shell…sprinkles go everywhere!

National Ice Cream Month-Breyers Blasts and More

I scream, you scream we all scream for ice cream! July is National Ice Cream Month and my family has been blessed with some delicious ice cream flavors to sample. This box pictured at the left arrived packed in dry ice. The hard part was waiting 24 hours for the ice cream to soften in the freezer so we could dig in. We’ve never tried any of these flavors before so we have enjoyed our experience.

The Mrs Fields Chocolate Fudge Brownie disappeared quickly, a favorite of both boys and I. Who can resist chocolate ice cream swirled with fudge and chunks of Mrs Fields Chocolate Fudge Brownies?? YUM! My 16yo son has been enjoying the Mrs Fields Mint Fudge Brownie almost daily since it arrived in our house. While I like them all my favorite has been the Whoppers Malted Vanilla. The unique malted vanilla ice cream is delicious and a perfect compliment to the Whoppers Malted Milk Balls which are mixed in the ice cream.

My husband and my 18yo son both favor the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup ice cream treats and of course the Jolly Rancher Popsicles are a new twist on a summer staple.

I Scream, You Scream, Who Wants to Win Ice Cream?

I love ice cream any time of the year, but in the summer, ice cream seems to taste better. We all know we shouldn’t eat too much ice cream, cause the good stuff is loaded with fat and calories. Breyers just launched their Smooth and Dreamy line of delicious, lower calorie and fat ice cream treats and I am in heaven!!
The Triple Chocolate Chip bars are my favorite…though I’ve enjoyed all of them that I have tried. The Triple Chocolate Chip bars are chocolate light ice cream with a chocolate fudge swirl and dark chocolate chips…all dipped in a milk chocolate coating. YUM!! This is a perfect snack for a chocoholic like me, it only has 130 calories and at my grocery store they cost $1.00 less than the other 2 major brands of low calories ice cream treats.

My son’s favorite is the Chocolate Caramel Brownie Ice Cream Sandwich. This yummy treat has chocolate light ice cream with a gooey caramel swirl and fudge brownie pieces between two scrumptious brownie cookies and only 160 calories.

Peppermint Stick Lava Cake

Last Friday 12/18/09 myself, my son Jordan, Stefanie & her daughter and Heather & her daughter met at Friendly’s on University Parkway in Sarasota, FL.We were hoping a few more friends could join us but some were sick and others were busy with holiday activities.

The Peppermint Stick Lava Cake was the delicious hit of the evening. Jordan and I each had one and it was DELICIOUS! I don’t know how long it will be on the menu but I have got to go back and have another one before they are gone.

The little girls each had the kids 3 scoop Create Your Own Snowman sundaes, they were adorable. Heather and Stefanie each created their own Happy Ending sundaes.

We had a lot of fun getting to know each other-and eating ice cream. Hopefully we will be able to get together more often and have more Sarasota/Bradenton area Twitter users join us.

Just in time for the end of summer break Friendly’s is rolling back the price of a single scoop cone! Through August 23, 2009 a single scoop cone is only $0.99! Yup, just $0.99 for your favorite flavor.

What will it be Hunka Chunka, Mint Chocolate Chip, Black Raspberry, Butter Crunch….? I’m thinking maybe it’s time to try something different. Instead of my usual Vienna Mocha Chunk I’ll try…Watermelon Sherbet, I haven’t had that since I was a kid!
