I have been trying for almost a month to write about how transformational convention was for me as a person and as a Plexus Ambassador. One of my most favorite things to do is to volunteer in kids ministry at church. It is something I have been doing for 39 years! I started volunteering at age 13. Currently I serve in 5 positions of children’s ministry leadership at church:

• Wednesday night Kid’s Clubs coordinator
• Teach the Wednesday night Stars class (3-5th grade girls)
• Serve on the RiverLife Kids leadership team
• Vacation Bible School Director
• VBS Bible teacher

It is a blessing and an honor to work with my fellow leaders and all of the amazing kids at our church. Some people think I am crazy, but I wish I could do more.

In case you have never spent time in kids ministry, there is a lot of jumping, dancing and running around that goes along with the teaching, preaching, loving and praying. Did you sleep well last night? I did and I am sure that is because I spent yesterday at a theme park with my 13yo nephew. We walked over 5 miles while enjoying the fresh Florida heat…and rain. Some nights I just don’t sleep well and you probably don’t either. Statistics show that 62% of Americans say they regularly suffer from symptoms of insomnia, that is almost 2/3 of us! While most of us suffer, only 20% of us believe we actually have insomnia and only 12% of us have been diagnosed with insomnia by our healthcare professional. Those numbers confuse me. I guess we are good at making excuses and bad at talking to our doctors.

Nearly 4 million Americans suffer from insomnia symptoms! That tells me there are a lot of sleepy people muddling through their days, not being as productive or happy as they could be had they gotten a good night’s sleep. Did you know that a sleep in important to our immune system, memory and other vital body functions? Your health could be suffering due to lack of sleep. While I was able to source my ingredients locally and I used Essential Oils that I already had on hand, you may not be able to do that. I will add links to where you can order each of the items used in the recipe.

DIY Lavender and Tea Tree Body Wash with Coconut Oil

This recipe makes one pint of body wash. Store your body wash in a glass container.

Ingredients

• 8 oz Dr. Bronner’s Fair Trade & Organic Castile Liquid Soap
• 8 oz Fractionated Coconut Oil
• 10 drops Young Living Tea Tree Oil
• 15 drops Young Living Lavender Oil

Directions

1. Pour all ingredients into a pint sized glass bottle or mason jar.
2. Shake well.
3. This body wash becomes a very creamy mixture. Just scoop out a bit and place it on your wash cloth or bath poof. It doesn’t lather a lot but it leaves my skin clean and moisturized.

It’s really that easy. I got my Castile soap and my coconut oil on sale so my pint cost me $7.98 which is about what I was paying for body wash and I have plenty of all 4 ingredients left for other recipes. Using the links above one pint would cost $13.28 which is more than my old drug store brand but at least you have the peace of mind that everything in this body wash is safe and good for your skin.

You can use any Young Living Essential Oils you would like in this DIY body wash. I would caution against the use of the citrus oils because they are photosensitive and you should avoid the sun when using citrus oils topically. I chose Tea Tree oil because it nourishes your skin and I chose Lavender for its balancing and relaxing properties.
