This post was sponsored by Fresh From Florida as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central, however, all opinions expressed are my own.

One of my favorite spring and summer fruits is watermelon. No one else in my family is a fan of this delicious fruit so I usually get the pre-cut up containers in the Publix produce section because I know they do it right there and it is always fresh. It is so good for you too, it is only 40 calories per cup and it has lots of nutrients, including the powerful antioxident lycopene which has anti-inflammatory properties. Fresh from Florida watermelon is in season from April-July making it a perfect spring and summer treat.

In Florida we are so blessed with many hard working farmers who supply us with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables all year round. There are literally several crops in season any given month of the year. Right now, along with watermelon, bell peppers, blueberries, and sweet corn are all in season. If you want to know more about the Florida crop seasons you can Follow the Fresh to the Fresh from Florida website and search for “crops in season”. I purchased my watermelon at Publix and it is right from Indian Hills Produce in Groveland, Florida. The watermelon was bigger than I needed for this recipe but I cut the rest up and I am enjoying it as a refreshing afternoon snack.
