When my kids were little I was an avid scrapbooker. I treasure all of those photos, pages and stories dearly but a photo misses something very important…sound. When Aaron was a baby, we bought a video camera to record milestones, special events and the everyday things he and later Jordan did. Our camera took those little tapes and we occasionally attempted to move them to VHS tapes where they would be safe. Well, we no longer have a VHS player so those videos as well as my wedding video were just sitting on a shelf…until YesVideo came along.

I have known about YesVideo and the awesome job they do converting your old film reels, mini-tapes and VHS tapes into a digital format and I am excited to finally get the chance to work with them. There are two ways to get started with YesVideo online or in a retail partner. There are 30,000 retail partners that work with YesVideo including Costco, Sams, Walmart and CVS, so if you like a more personal approach bring your media to a location and place your order there. I did the online method. I went to the YesVideo website and placed my order. They mailed me an EasyShip Kit ($24.99) which included the box, packing materials and prepaid shipping label. All I had to do was put in my videos, seal the box and drop it off at my local UPS Store. Within 2 weeks I received an email stating that my original media was on its way back to me and my videos were available online for viewing!

We have begun watching the videos online and selected two of our favorite clips to share with you. These clips are videos of stories that are told at every family gathering. The first is one that happened at Aaron’s 2nd birthday in 1995. The second is from Christmas 1996 when my in-laws gave my dad a special gift.

Now that my first 4 videos are online, I’m working on gathering more to have transferred and getting ready to order DVDs of my videos so that I can have a hard copy as well as the ones stored in the cloud. If you would like to place an order with YesVideo for Christmas, time is running out! Place your online order by 12/3/13 and use code holiday20 to receive 20% off your transfer order.
