I know I have been waiting for 3 of these movies to come on Blu-ray and I am excited to finally have a release date.

I waited a long time for this movie to arrive. Originally the release date was September 18th and it got pushed up to October 9th. I am glad I finally watched the movie. It is a cute detective flick that pays homage to the British detectives of the late 1800s and is based on the book series “Basil of Baker Street”. The cast is great, especially Vincent Price as Ratigan, the villain. The music by Henry Mancini is well done but nothing that will stick with you after the movie. This was also the first movie where Disney used a combination of CGI and hand animated cels. This use of technology allows for a great chase scene through Big Ben.

I enjoyed the movie, it is more of a detective/action film than a typical Disney movie and this is probably why it is underrated. Take a look at one of my favorite scenes.

I believe this movie belongs in every Disney movie fan’s library. It would make a great Christmas gift for your kids or your favorite movie lover.

“The Aristocats” Special Edition is a purr-fect treat for the whole family. It includes a brand new bonus featurette “The Lost Open” with Richard Sherman taking viewers through the storyboards of a never-before-seen alternate beginning which introduces a deleted character and a deleted song “How Much You Mean To Me” and “Court Me Slowly” written and performed by the Sherman brothers. This song demo was one of the few times Richard and Robert ever sang together. Additional classic bonus features on “The Aristocats” Special Edition include the delightful deleted song, “She Never Felt Alone” and “The Great Cat Family (Excerpt),” which explores the history of cats.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the bonus features, especially the three that feature Richard and/or Robert Sherman. I love learning about the songs and scenes that don’t make the final edit and this movie had some great songs that have only survived in the Disney archives for over 40 years! I am excited to be able to share a brief clip of “The Lost Open” with you!!!

I received the 3 disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack for review. We watched The Fox and The Hound together and my now 18 year old son was amazed at how much of the story he had forgotten. The video quality was crisp and clear. We all smiled when Big Mama, Pearl Bailey, started singing “Best of Friends”-it was like an old friend was singing to us. The timeless story of true friendship has never received the critical acclaim of other Disney movies but it endures in the hearts of many Disney fans.

We had never seen The Fox and The Hound 2, which was a direct to video midquel release in 2006. I’m just not a fan of the multiple midquel’s that Disney studios released in the mid to early 2000’s-I felt that they took away from the original story in many cases. My husband and I sat down to watch The Fox and The Hound 2 and it was a cute movie. Again, it is a midquel-it takes place mostly at the country fair…before Tod and Copper grow up…somewhere in the middle of the original movie’s timeline-which to me is awkward. Again the theme of the movie is true friendship and while somewhat cliche the added voice talents of Reba McEntire, Patrick Swayze and Vickie Lawrence are great additions as part of the “Singin’ Strays” musical group. Disney also did a great job at re-casting the voice talents for Tod and Copper, both voices are very similar to those in the original movie.

The Fox and the Hound and The Fox and the Hound 2, special 30^th Anniversary 2-Movie Collection will be a great addition to your video library.
