In my opinion the movie God’s Not Dead is appropriate for ages 10+. It is rated PG for theme, brief violence and an accident scene. The theme is what makes this film not suitable for younger viewers, it is deep and younger viewers will probably be bored because they don’t “get it”. That being said, I would love for everyone else to go see this movie. It is well made and very thought provoking.

About God’s Not Dead

Present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class by the dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson begins class by informing students that they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God on that first day, or face a failing grade. As other students in the class begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead” on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads, having to choose between his faith and his future. Josh offers a nervous refusal, provoking an irate reaction from his smug professor. Radisson assigns him a daunting task: if Josh will not admit that “God Is Dead,” he must prove God’s existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over the course of the semester, and engage Radisson in a head-to-head debate in front of the class. If Josh fails to convince his classmates of God’s existence, he will fail the course and hinder his lofty academic goals. With almost no one in his corner, Josh wonders if he can really fight for what he believes. Can he actually prove the existence of God? Wouldn’t it just be easier just to write “God Is Dead” and put the whole incident behind him? God’s Not Dead weaves together multiple stories of faith, doubt and disbelief, culminating in a dramatic call to action. The film will educate, entertain, and inspire moviegoers to explore what they really believe about God, igniting important conversations and life-changing decisions.

Mom Maven’s Thoughts

In a nutshell…GO SEE THIS MOVIE. Yes, I am a Christian. No, I can’t defend my faith as well as the character of Josh does in this movie, even though I should. I do know that if for no other reason than for you to make your own decision on the question is God dead or is He alive, you should go to the movie. I do know that on campuses across this country, students are being coerced and threatened into denying their faith for the sake of their education-if you don’t believe me, watch the movie credits and see all of the legal cases cited surrounding this topic.

God’s Not Dead has a great cast, script and soundtrack and I am excited that it is slated to open in theaters across the country on March 21, 2014. You can check out the God’s Not Dead website for a list of theaters where it will be showing. Also on the website they have downloads like computer wallpapers, Facebook covers and avatars as well as posters and other items for getting the word out in your local community.

From the director of “Angels In the Outfield” comes an inspiring story about a special boy with an amazing gift, and the coach who believed. Dean Cain and Luke Schroder star in the gmc movie based on the book “The Legend of Mickey Tussler”.

My husband and I watched A Mile in His Shoes on Friday night. It is a sweet, yet predictable family film about a young man with Asperger’s Syndrome who is recruited to play semi-pro baseball. The main story line follows his growth as Mickey, played by Luke Schroder, becomes part of a team. Other story lines follow the growth of Murph, the coach, played by Dean Cain, who has to come to terms with his past and that of Mr Tussler who learns to let go and allow his special son reach for the stars.

It was an enjoyable movie, though we felt that both Murph and Mr Tussler’s characters could have been developed more fully and thus made us more empathetic towards their struggles.

If you like baseball movies, under dog movies or movies with a character with special needs then A Mile in His Shoes would be a great fit for your family.
