I love a good comeback story. We all make wrong choices sometimes. They can be in our personal life, relationships, professional life, whatever. When someone sees the error of their ways and decides to make a change to not only be better moving forward, but to do what they can to right the wrongs of their past, that’s a story I’m interested in. Mom Maven’s Thoughts

Hubby and I watched the movie the other night and we enjoyed it. It does get a little slow at a few points, but not too bad. The characters are mostly well developed and well acted. The part of Jake could have used a bit more depth. I thoroughly enjoyed Pat Boone as Will Dunn, The Old Pro. His love of golf and heart for the people around him shone bright. The Old Pro had a gold analogy for just about every life struggle. He was the heart of the movie. Eric Close was believable as entrepreneur and CEO Paul McAllister. The actor embodied the mental and heart shifts that take place in his character throughout the film.

Mom Maven’s Thoughts on Voiceless

My husband and I watched Voiceless together the other night and we agree on our review of the movie. The message is wonderful, we, the Christian church need to do more to combat the abortion industry. There are many ways to this goal and the movie focuses on doing this passively, by opening a teen center and sharing the love of Jesus with the young people who come in. The movie also shows the main character actively reaching out to women before they enter the clinic, which often leads to confrontation instead of conversion. The acting in this movie was good, better than many Christian movies we have reviewed.

Our problem with Voiceless was the pacing. It was a very slow moving movie and we both almost fell asleep while watching it. The cinematography is also very dark and dingy, even in the homes and church which made it overall depressing. Couple that with the slow moving story and the good message could easily be lost.

Voiceless will be in theaters October 7th. See it for yourself, the message is good and hopefully it will encourage more Christians to step out of their comfort zones and get on the front lines of the pro-life battle.

In case you aren’t aware, according to UNICEFF 1.2 million children are trafficked each year. Human trafficking is the world’s fastest growing crime! Don’t think it just happens elsewhere, human trafficking has been reported in all 50 states. In a 2014 report, the Urban Institute estimated that the underground sex economy ranged from $39.9 million in Denver, Colorado, to $290 million in Atlanta, Georgia. It is everywhere, especially in major travel hubs. We all need to do our part to stop the atrocity.

Mom Maven’s Thoughts

I have not been blown away by a movie since I saw War Room over a year ago. CAGED NO MORE had me on the edge of my couch for the entire movie. The script is well written and the movie is well cast. Loretta Devine is amazing as Aggie, we all need someone who loves us as much as she does for her family. Alan Powell does a wonderful job showing both the strong and caring sides of Wil.

I’m aware that human trafficking is a very difficult subject, but it is an important one. I hope you will buy the Caged No More (DVD) and share it with your teens, small groups and Sunday school classes. If you visit the CAGED NO MORE website there is a downloadable 4 week Bible study available for free. This movie is PG-13 and I agree with the rating, this movie is too intense, and the subject matter is too mature for kids younger than 13 to view.

We watched the movie as a family last Saturday night. The story of grace and redemption is powerful and the acting is well done. Overall we enjoyed the movie though there were some glaring inconsistencies that we all saw, though that is to be expected, considering this is the first movie from Memphis-based Graceworks Pictures in conjunction with Calvary Pictures. The first thing that jumped out at us is the police officers never wear their seat belts! Also, in some of the driving scenes the police officer is moving the steering wheel like he is turning but the background never changes.
