]]> We love character dining at Walt Disney World. Yes, often travel is now just the two of us but that doesn’t matter. We love the Disney characters just as much as the kids. On our anniversary trip in September we tried a new-to-us character dining option dinner at Tusker House in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I have friends who rave about the breakfast character meal at Tusker House but we just don’t like paying that much for breakfast so we had never tried Tusker House before. Now there is character dining all day long!

We enjoyed our dinner at Tusker House and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique menu and character dining experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

We checked in at the kiosk and then were sent to wait for our buzzer to go off. We didn’t wait long at all before we were escorted into the restaurant and given a tour of the buffet stations. We were then shown to our table which was in the back of the restaurant over on the side. We were informed by our waitress that we were in the VIP area where celebrities, including Leonardo DiCarprio, dine when they are in the restaurant. She explained to us that when we saw characters in the large room next to us we should stay put because they would be in our small room next.

We enjoyed our dinner at Tusker House and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique menu and character dining experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

We are pretty basic, picky eaters so the menu at Tusker House was a little scary for us. We both ventured out of our comfort zone and tried some foods that were new to us. Most were very delicious, except the watermelon and Feta salad which just tasted like red onions 🙁  I finally tried Curry Chicken. I also enjoyed the Spit Roasted Beef, Mojo Pork and Oven Roasted Red Skin potatoes. I tried other item that I can no longer remember the names of. There is also a kids buffet with mac ‘n cheese and other kid favorites.

The character interaction at Tusker House was very good. The characters each took their time with each table taking lots of pictures and signing autographs as they went. We spent time with Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy during our meal.

We enjoyed our dinner at Tusker House and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique menu and character dining experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Prices at Tusker House vary by meal and season. Adult breakfast ranges from $15-29.99. Adult lunch and dinner range from $30-59.99. A meal at Tusker Houseis worth 1 Disney Dining Plan credit and it is also available on Tables in Wonderland.

]]> Winnie the Pooh was my favorite Disney character from childhood through my 30’s and even now he is near the top of my list. When visiting Walt Disney World I like to visit with Pooh and  a lot of my other Disney friends. My kids are at the age where they will get their picture taken with characters just to keep me happy but when they were younger they were both autograph hounds so I have lots of pictures of them with the characters.

Sometimes the tricky thing is knowing where to find the characters. In Animal Kingdom you can usually find Pooh and some of his friends on Discovery Island as you are heading towards DinoLand USA and sometimes at Camp Minnie-Mickey. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios Pooh has been hanging out at the animation building but rumors say he is soon to be replaced. Pooh can often be found in the U.K. area of Epcot as well as in the Character Connection in Future World. In the Magic Kingdom you can find Pooh in Fantasyland. If character dining is your thing, you can find Pooh at the Crystal Palace for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and sometimes at 1900 Park Fare for breakfast.

I think meeting the characters is an important part of the “magic” that is a Disney vacation so make sure you take some time to meet your favorites.
