While you wait in the queue you can see various props from some action movies and watch film clips of the movie Pearl Harbor with director Michael Bay explaining some of the special effects used. Next you walk to the water tank where a few “lucky” volunteers take part in a special effects water demonstration. My dad and I were volunteers in 2005. It is a fun way to really immerse yourself in the magic.

After the water tank scenes you walk through a large prop warehouse full of items used in movies. Upon exiting the warehouse you board a tram for a ride through the materials and costuming buildings before heading into the “boneyard” area which is where old movie vehicles go to die Next you head onto a “live” movie set called Catastrophe Canyon where you are able to experience more movie special effects from the comfort of your tram vehicle. Next you pass the Lights, Motor, Action set and practice area as you head to where you disembark the tram.

The end of the tour takes place in a museum-like setting which currently hosts an exhibit on the American Film Institute’s 50 Greatest Villains, complete with costumes on life-sized mannequins. As you exit the exhibit through a store that sells vintage movie paraphernalia.
