About Gummy Drop!

In Gummy Drop!, building and matching squish together as players match gummies shaped like doughnuts, hearts, and bricks in groups of 3 or more to collect resources that are needed to rebuild famous landmarks around the world. To build these notable monuments, each level has specific objectives that need to be achieved within a set number of moves. Additionally, each landmark may need more than one building resource, sometimes requiring the player to go back and replay completed levels in order to collect additional building materials. This adds a level of strategy and accomplishment not found in other Match-3 games.

Gummy Drop! is a unique Match-3 game with new levels being added every month. If players get stuck, Gummy Drop! generously offers boosts to help players get through levels, and also includes a “Lucky Spin” feature that randomly awards players extra moves or additional lives.

Mom Maven’s Thoughts

I’m not impressed I like Match-3 games and building/resource management games but in my opinion Gummy Drop! is just meh. I’m only on level 21 because you need to play each level 3 times to gather all of the building supplies you need. The building part is lame because when you’ve gathered the supplies it builds automatically and there is no fun in that. The Match-3 is ok but I would rather play Cascade over Gummy Drop! any day.

While I find the game play boring, the first thing I had to do was shut of the annoying music. I like letting the music play on most games but this music was distracting. The voice that congratulates you doing the game often shouts “Weekend!” which makes no sense to me at all.

If you are looking to add a new game to your iOS device, I suggest you look elsewhere for your mindless fun. Gummy Drop! isn’t worth your time.

About Cascade

Cascade is a level-based Match-3 game that combines a unique mash-up of skill and luck with a slots mechanic. As I said before, it is my new addiction. It has a different feel than other match-3 games because you aren’t shifting the gems on the board, you are adding a gem from the 6 that you spun. For me, this took a bit of getting used to-but I like it! I have found that it is easier to strategize with this game than other match-3 games because you have different kinds of choices to make.

If you are looking for a new game for your iPhone or iPad, I recommend you try Cascade.

About Midnight Castle

Midnight Castle is a beautiful hidden object adventure, where players need to find hidden objects that will help them on their quest through a magical estate to learn the fate of a deceased uncle. During your quests, you will need to gain the trust of the occupants of Midnight Castle and earn gold along the way, which you do by successfully completing each quest. Use your in-game gold to unlock additional game scenes or areas of interest.

Keep in mind, not all quest items can be found, some must be made. Use the castle laboratory to craft smaller items into the more powerful artifacts you seek. In addition, you will encounter whimsical enchanted beasts during your journey that will become your pets and aid you in finding needed items. The objective of all these quest is to collect keys you will need to gain access to the castle’s Mystery Chamber, where you will learn the truth behind your Uncle’s demise.

MomMaven’s Thoughts

Normally I would never play a game that is this dark in its tone. Maybe it is my naïveté, but even by the description I didn’t think it would be so dark. In all honesty, I found this game rather boring. The quests either send you to find a hidden object or to the laboratory to make an object. Before you can make an object you have to find the hidden objects required in the recipe to make the needed object. So it boils down to this being a hidden object game.

I like hidden object games-just not this one. In Midnight Castle each time you go to a place, like the well to find hidden objects, you are always looking for the same objects ie. bell, scroll, glasses, pinecone, etc and they are often in the same place as last time you looked for them. At regular intervals the hidden object locations upgrade but all that does is add a few more objects to find or move them around a bit. I finish most locations in 30-40 seconds.

So, you find your item, bring it to the character who asked for it and they send you out to find something else. IF that something else is also at the well you need to wait 9 1/2 minutes to re-enter the well! I would guess that one-third of my accrued game playing time was spent waiting for a location to allow me to re-enter! This is a huge waste of time, especially since I will often reward myself with 15 minutes of playing time between projects.

Personally, I know there are much better games available on Big Fish, I own several of them. Midnight Castle will be a waste of your money and your time, both of which are better spent on something else.

When I was approached about hosting this giveaway, I was asked to chose one of 5 games. Being the diligent researcher that I am, I downloaded the free trial of all 5 games. I played Plants vs Zombies first and I was hooked right away. So much so that when the 60 minute free trial ended, I was a bit depressed. I moved onto the other games, three of which I was familiar with and had played previous versions of and one which literally bored me to death in the first 3 minutes and I deleted it without playing any more.

You have to know that we don’t do anything “zombies” in our family, no movies, TV shows etc so for me to willingly try this game was a big step. Honestly, the animated zombies are so pathetic looking that I can’t help but feel a little bit sorry for them.

Zombies are invading your home and are after your brains! Thankfully, you have your arsenal of plants to defend you in Plants vs. Zombies! Armed with a garden full of peashooters, melon-paults, and cherry bombs, you`ll need to think fast, and plant faster, to stop the different types of zombies dead in their tracks. Obstacles like a setting sun, creeping fog, and a swimming pool add to the challenge and make sure the fun never dies in this addicting Action/Arcade game!
