Last month I introduced you to Scotts Bonus S for southern lawns and soon I'll be sharing with you how it is working on my Florida lawn. Today I want to share with you some events that Scotts are a part of that have the baseball fan in me excited.

It is less than 30 days til Opening Day 2014! While my #1 team is the Tampa Bay Rays my #2 team is the Boston Red Sox. I grew up outside of Boston and went to Red Sox games as a kid. They were my #1 team for the first 44 years of my life, until the awesome 2008 season for the Tampa Bay Rays! My somewhat split allegiance makes for some tricky AL East games but, its all good.

On March 8, 2014 at The Home Depot #6975 at 2508 Skyline Blvd, Cape Coral, FL the World Series Trophy will be on display from 10am-2pm. The Boston Red Sox mascot "Wally" will be there from 11am-2pm and there will also be a blow up speed pitch game.

On March 15, 2014 at Lowes #592 at 1651 NE Pine Island Rd, Cape Coral, FL there will be another event from 10am-2pm including the blow up speed pitch game and with "Wally" appearing from 11am-2pm. (no trophy at this event). At both events there will be On-site radio remotes from 10am-noon, giveaways of Bonus Red Sox Championship Gear, Scotts/MLB products (pens, baseballs etc), Spring Training Tickets to see the Red Sox, Scotts product giveaways, and product coupons with discounts off the NEW BONUS S.

Each Saturday, one VIP package will be given away which will include, game tickets, gift bag, and a pre-game tour of Jet Blue Park!

There will be Scotts associates at each event to answer Scotts Turf Builder questions as well as providing tips to all other lawn and garden questions. There will also be product boards and displays showing product features and benefits.

The ceremony will be performed by a Rays talent personality (Hmm I wonder who it will be?) and participating couples will receive commemorative Rays champagne flutes as they exit the field after the ceremony.

The fee is $30 per couple to participate in the vow renewal. You must preregister on the Rays Group Outings site registration is open through June 13, at 11:59 p.m. ET. You must also have a ticket to the game, which starts at 4:10pm. You can purchase your game tickets from Ticketmaster, tickets range from $15-$140 each.

This marriage vow renewal is not a legal ceremony. It is only a symbolic ceremony. All participants must be 18 years or older and already have obtained a legal marriage license.

It has been a few years since I’d been to Tropicana Field. I love this venue. It is a very family friendly arena. As you walk throughout the dome there are a lot of food and beverage choices ($5 soda and $5 pretzel up to the really expensive stuff from the Outback booths). There is an old time boardwalk feel at the Trop. There are games of chance, a place to have your picture taken with Raymond-the Rays mascot, and even a place to get your picture put on a baseball card. One of my favorite things at the Trop. is the Ray Tank. How cool is it to have a mini-aquarium with real live rays swimming just past the outfield.

I want to close out this post listing the good, the bad and the ugly of our Saturday at Tropicana Field.
The Good: I love going to live sporting events and it is even better when your team wins! Go Rays! It is fun to share a day like this with family.
The Bad: We were seated in front of 6 rude, obnoxious,foul-mouthed drunks. This is honestly the #1 reason I don’t attend more live sporting events. The stadium was sold out so we were stuck with these rude people, 4 of whom didn’t even want to be at a baseball game, commenting and cussing throughout the day. I really wish that Tropicana Field would open an alcohol free section of seats like so many other pro sports venues have done. This would make the day so much more enjoyable for everyone. Also, where we were seated, all you could hear of the concert was the bass, with a slightly different speaker array many more people could have enjoyed the concert.
The Ugly: I think the picture speaks for itself. I did black out her face to protect her identity, but the mullet has been “out” for a long time.
