Disney’s PROM is available on Blu-Ray and DVD today. Since I have already given you my review of PROM I thought I’d tell you about the fun bonus features that you’ll find on the Blu-ray and DVD.

BONUS FEATURES:

DVD:

Putting on PROM: Making of Featurette

Bloopers

BLU-RAY:

Everything on the DVD, plus…

· “Last Chance Lloyd” Exclusive Short — Laugh out loud at all the creative and hilarious ways Lloyd (Nicholas Braun) asks girls to Prom in his heroic quest for the perfect date…actually, any date!

4 Deleted Scenes—With introductions by producer Justin Springer and director Joe Nussbaum

7 Music Videos:

Allstar Weekend—“Not Your Birthday”

Neon Trees—“Your Surrender”

Moon—“Time Stand”

Nolan Sotillo—“We Could Be Anything” (English version)

Nolan Sotillo—“Juntos Lo Haremos Bien” (Spanish version)

  Those Dancing Days—“I’ll Be Yours”

Girl In A Coma—“Come On, Let’s Go”

My favorite bonus feature was the “Last Chance Lloyd” Exclusive Short (which is only on the Blu-ray). This short adds to the story line of Lloyd’s unsuccessful attempts to find his dream date for the prom…and how he ended up with the date that he did. As far as the music videos go Allstar Weekend is my favorite but I have had a soft spot for them ever since I heard them perform at the 2010 Disney Social Media Moms Conference :-).

How does it feel to be called the next big thing? What’s it like to be cast as a young Johnny Depp? We catch up with the rising star to find out…

How would you describe your new movie, Prom?
Prom follows the story of a handful of students during the lead-up to their high school prom. We were hoping to create a classic teen film, so it’s the story of their relationships and their intertwining experiences. Tonally, the movie lies somewhere between a John Hughes movie like Pretty In Pink and a Cameron Crowe film. It’s been a great project to work on.

How would you describe your character in the movie?
I play a guy named Jesse Richter in Prom. Jesse is a loner and he’s a bit of a rebel – but he’s misunderstood because he’s dealing with a lot of issues at home. It was a lot of fun playing the rebel in the movie. However, what I really enjoyed about the character was the fact that there was a whole lot more to him than just a bad boy on a motorcycle. There’s a complexity to Jesse and he’s got many different layers to his personality.

This is your first big movie role. What did it feel like to walk out onto the set for the first time?
It felt very cool. I didn’t know what to expect, but the energy on the set was extremely positive. Everyone working on Prom was very cool, which made it very easy. To be honest, it was a dream job.

The director of Prom has described you as the ‘next big star of movies’… How does that make you feel?
He said that? Wow. That’s nice. I’m happy that he thinks that and I hope he’s right. It would be good to do some more work in movies, but I know this is a tough industry and I know it’s going to be difficult. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens because who knows what the future holds?

Did you always want to be an actor?
Not exactly. When people ask Jack Nicholson why he got into the movie business, he said, “I always knew I liked watching movies, so I fell into it.” That’s how I like to look at it, too. I have always really liked movies and I thought it would be great to work on them in whatever way possible.

What movies inspired you when you were growing up?
Oh, man… There are so many movies that inspired me in my younger days. It’s impossible to pick just a few, but I have always admired directors like Sidney Lumet. Dog Day Afternoon is one of my favorite movies ever. Al Pacino is outstanding in it.

What other actors do you look up to?
I love actors like Paul Dano, Emile Hirsch and Olivia Wilde. They are all young people that I think are great, and they have appeared in some amazing movies.

What advice would you give to wannabe actors?
If you want to become an actor, the first thing to do is practice hard. I went to art school and I crossed over into performing arts, but I tried to learn from everything and everyone around me. If you’re serious about acting, try taking classes or join a drama club. Get involved.

What audition tips can you share with us?
Auditions are tough. At times they are nerve wracking and tense, but you’ve just got to walk into the audition room and give it your best shot. It’s also important to be adaptable because the director might ask you to perform a scene in a different way. Be open to change. Be ready to mix up your performance.

Is there anything else you want to add?
It’s also imperative that you study the script before you walk into an audition room. Learn your lines and study the scene. Be prepared.

What’s next for you?
Next, I’m working on a Tim Burton movie called Dark Shadows. It’s going to be filmed in London and I think it’s going to be really cool. It’s been described as a gothic soap opera and it’s a very campy, goofy project. I play a small role in the movie, but it’s a good role. I play the young Johnny Depp!

How does it feel to be cast as a young Johnny Depp?
I’ve been doing a lot of promotion for Prom recently and everyone seems to bring up the Johnny Depp comparisons. It’s very flattering. Johnny Depp is a great actor and he’s a handsome dude. It’s great.

Do you have any other acting projects in the pipeline?
I’ve also signed up for a movie called The Spectacular Now, which is going to be very cool. It’s a great story about a very charming but problematic teenager, played by me. I’m really excited about the role because my character really reminds me of Ferris Bueller. He’s a very charming, charismatic guy who can do no wrong. I can’t wait.

PROM stars Aimee Teegarden (“Friday Night Lights”), Thomas McDonell (“The Forbidden Kingdom”), Danielle Campbell (“Prison Break”), Yin Chang (“Gossip Girl”), Nicholas Braun (“10 Things I Hate About You”), Jared Kusnitz (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”), Jonathan Keltz (“Entourage”), De’Vaughn Nixon (“Sonny with a Chance”), Nolan Sotillo (“Corey and Lucas for the Win”), Cameron Monaghan (“Corey and Lucas for the Win”) and
Raini Rodriguez (“I’m in the Band”). PROM will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD August 30, 2011.

Here is a Q&A with PROM star Aimee Teegarden:

What was life like on the set of Prom?
Life on set was amazing! We filmed the movie in various schools around Los Angeles, so it felt like we were all going to class together every day. There were a lot of giggles on the set, and a lot of laughs.

What were you like in high school?
I worked really hard in high school. I graduated when I was 16 years old, so I guess I was a bit of a nerd because I worked hard to finish early. I was already working in the entertainment business and I knew I wanted to be an actor, so I focused and I got on with my schoolwork.

Did you have any time for fun at school?
I loved playing sports back then. That was a lot of fun for me. And I was also involved in many different organizations like Girl Scouts and the choir. I loved it.

Did you find it easy to make friends back then?
Yes and no. I was a bit of a tomboy and I always had strange clothes. I love thrift store shopping, so my clothes were always mismatched and I never had the right labels or the perfect pair of shoes, so I was a little different to everybody else.

Did that bother you?
Not really. The friends that I had when I was a kid are still my friends today. I’ve got a good group of friends that have stuck by me no matter what. They appreciate me for who I am, which is wonderful.

What advice do you have for kids who are struggling to make friends at school?
I think the easiest way to make friends is to get involved in something you’re passionate about, whether it’s working at an animal shelter, going to choir practice or getting involved with sports. I know it’s very, very hard to go up to somebody and invite them to go shopping or whatever – but it’s easier if you have a common interest.

So get involved in school clubs?
Exactly! Find somebody who shares the same passions as you because it’s a lot easier to connect with people if you have something in common. Plus, you already have something to talk about. Join the drama club, the sports club or even the chess club. Get involved!

Talking of drama… What advice would you give to youngsters who want to follow in your footsteps and act?
The biggest piece of advice I can give anyone is to finish high school. And after high school, look into college with a great drama program or get involved in community theater. Make sure you study first because you never know where this industry will take you.

What other tips have you got for wannabe actors?
Practice your skills, learn about acting and get involved! There are so many different aspects of acting and there are so many amazing books out there that look into different techniques and things like that. Head to the library and read up.

Can you recommend any good books?
There are way too many to mention, but see what you can find. Read up on movies, too. Look into the transition of black and white to color movies, from silent film to talking movies. Knowing all about the history of cinema and acting will be very beneficial further down the road. Watching movies also helps. Read plays, go online and look up directors and actors that you like. Just do anything you can to learn more about the world of movies.

What is the best way to handle all the rejection?
It’s difficult. You’ll get about 500 people saying ‘no’ to you before you get a single ‘yes’ – but you’ve just got to persevere. Look at auditions as a learning opportunity. It’s all about getting your face out there and getting experience. You’ll get there if you try hard and persevere.

Do you enjoy acting?
I love what I get to do. I get to play different characters every day and I get to pretend to do different jobs all the time – but it’s a lot of hard work and it can take forever to get that lucky break. If you’re serious about acting, join the school drama club and get involved in acting classes to see if you like it first. It’s not a career for everyone.

Were you in school plays when you were younger?
I did loads of school plays. In high school, we did The Wizard Of Oz and I played the role of a munchkin. I had a whole song and dance number – and it was really great!

Prom is a cute romantic movie… What kind of guys do you fall for, Aimee?
I’m into normal guys like Joe Schmoe.

What does Joe Schmoe look like?
I don’t think about what he looks like or where he’s from. I just look to see whether his heart is in the right place. I like guys who are nice human beings. Oh, and being humorous helps too!

Have you ever had your heart broken?
It’s happened to me a few times…

How did you cope?
There was lots of crying, of course. Crying, sleeping and food seems to help. I’ve always had a great set of girlfriends that have always picked me up and shown me that I’m young and life goes on. It’s not like I’ve had a great tragedy in my life. Everybody experiences heartbreak. I think it’s just part of the whole human experience. We all deal with it and we all get over it. Eventually.

Is heartbreak tough?
Of course it is! But it helps you grow and mature. If you don’t experience heartbreak, I don’t feel like you would ever understand a lot of things in life. It’s awful, but you’re going to get through it. Keep your chin up, girls. It’s going to get better!
