We love a good steak but we hate paying steakhouse prices. Years ago we were able to get great steaks at Albertsons with a delicious rub on them. We bought them so often the meat manager gave my husband the info to the company that made the rub so we could buy it in bulk! Unfortunately Albertsons left Florida years ago, and we have lost the info on where to get the rub. I told Ron I was going to create some rubs and we would decide which steakhouse rub we liked best. I was blessed in that the first one I made was a huge hit. What makes it even better is it is made with spices I always have in my spice cabinet.
Ron went down to Detweilers Farm Market and picked up a 20 oz ribeye and some corn on the cob for us to enjoy with this rub. We figured there would be leftover steak for Jordan when he got home but…nope, we ate it all! It was so delicious we just couldn’t stop. Next time I’m going to make a larger batch and put it in a shaker jar to have on hand whenever we need it. I also want to try it in my hamburgers 🙂
- 1 TBS brown sugar
- 1 TBS Old Bay Seasoning
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp Lawry's Seasoned Salt
- Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl.
- Rub the mixture into the steak, covering both sides.
- Let steak sit out at least an hour to come to room temperature before grilling.
- Gill over medium heat until internal temperature reaches 140° for medium rare.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
The night we made this steak I was texting pictures to everyone. I couldn’t stop sharing about how delicious it was!
