I can’t believe March starts this weekend! Spring has sprung here in Florida and that means prom season is right around the corner. April-May is when most of the big events happen for high school juniors and seniors. That means now is the time to start shopping for prom dresses. The longer you and your daughter wait chances are, the more money you are going to spend. Prom dress shopping can be stressful and drama-filled so I thought I’d share a few tips on how to make the process a bit easier.
Tips for Drama Free Prom Dress Shopping
- Decide who is paying for the dress. Is this mom & dad’s responsibility? Is your daughter paying for it? Are you splitting the cost? You need to do what is best for your family but honestly, if you expect your daughter to pay for her own dress, or if you are going to split the cost I hope you have alerted her to that fact before now so that she can properly save her money for the big purchase.
- Set a budget. This is a prom dress not a wedding dress so set a reasonable budget. There are lots of great dresses available for under $200. Recently, our local high schools have also set prom dress standards so you may want to check with the school to make sure all of the established rules are followed.
- Don’t buy the first dress you see. Shop around.
