Seventh Generation Review and Giveaway

I don’t enjoy cleaning my house, who does? It is a necessary evil so we might as well use products that we like. I don’t consider myself a “green” mom in any sense of the word but I accepted the Seventh Generation challenge to try some of their products around my home.

I received Seventh Generation’s three new specialty cleaners (Wood, Granite/Stone, and Stainless Steel) which are all USDA Certified Biobased Products made from non-toxic, biodegradable formulas. All three surface cleaners are made with a unique blend of plant-based ingredients and organic coconut oil to deliver strong performance without containing harsh fumes. The 18 oz. bottles are available online for $4.99 each.

The Hand Care Dish Liquid is a USDA Certified Biobased Product with fragrances from essential oils and botanical extracts. The formula is non-toxic, biodegradable and contains Advanced HerbaVera™ Moisturizing Technology, so it’s gentle on both your hands and the earth. Available online in 18 oz. bottles for $3.49 each.

The Natural Laundry Detergent Packs are a USDA Certified Biobased Product containing no dyes, synthetic fragrances, nor optical brighteners. They are effective in hot or cold water and are available for purchase online in two sizes: 30 Count – $9.99 and 50 Count – $14.99.

Seventh Generation Prize Pack

I was only able to use 3 of the products the Wood Cleaner, Hand Care Dish Liquid and the Natural Laundry Detergent Packs. I couldn’t use the Stainless Steel Cleaner and the Granite Cleaner because I don’t have those surfaces in my home. The Wood Cleaner did a very good job cleaning my table. It didn’t leave any residue like some cleaners I have tried. The Hand Care Dish Liquid did a great job cleaning my dishes and it didn’t leave my hands feeling dried out when I was done doing the dishes. The natural Laundry Detergent Packs did a great job of cleaning our clothes, though they cost about double what I usually spend on laundry detergent.

The biggest disconnect for me is I have come to believe that my house is clean when it smells clean. Unfortunately that “clean” smell is usually caused from chemicals. The Seventh Generation products don’t have these artificial fragrances so even though my house is clean it doesn’t smell that way. This is something I need to re-train my brain about because by using Seventh Generation products, my home is cleaner and healthier than it is when I use my other cleaning products.

Seventh Generation makes more than just cleaning products, they make eco-friendly personal care items, and baby care items too. With cold and flu season upon us you might want to check out their 100% Recycled Tissues. When you are done with the tissues you can repurpose the box and make a cute little monster!

I am giving away the same package of Seventh Generation products that I received. The giveaway ends at 12:01am on 11/24/12. The winner will be verified and notified by email. They will have 48 hours to claim their prize. Good Luck!
