I brought my copy of Disney’s Planes or Wii over to my 7 yr old toy tester, Matthew’s house last week. I asked him to try out the game and tell me what he likes and what he doesn’t like. He was excited to get his hands on the game. He got his Wii remote and nunchuck ready and started with the tutorial. Since Matthew is a beginning aviator he eagerly worked his way through all of the tutorials, learning to fly, spin, barrel roll, hit targets, shoot, take pictures and several other activities needed throughout the four modes of play.
Once he accomplished all of the tutorial goals he went into the story mode. I left the game with him and in less than 24 hours his mom texted me to tell me he had completed the entire game. I really dislike when even a 7 year old can beat an entire game in just a few hours of play. It just doesn’t justify the $39.99 price.
The four modes of play are Story, Air Rallies, Balloon Pop and Free Play. Matthew’s favorite mode is Free Play and his least favorite is Air Rallies.
I am horrible at flying games, I think it is because I have some spacial awareness issues but I was able to accomplish all of the tutorials, with a little coaching from Matthew so in my opinion most kids ages 6+ should be able to master the art of flying in this game.
Matthew enjoys the game, but only time will tell how re-playable it is. Disney’s Planes Wii is available at all of your major retailers. We recommend this game for your younger gamers, ages 6-9.
Disclosure: I received a copy of this game for the purpose of this review. I gave my copy to my reviewer after I received his review. All opinions are 100% mine or Matthew’s. There are affiliate links in this post.
