Mushu loves toys, but she is very picky about them. She likes toys that squeak and that she can carry in her mouth. The only toy that she likes that doesn’t fit that description is her Bionic Ball, which she has been playing with for almost 2 years! I love the idea of treat toys and dogs having to work (play) a bit to get their treat. This month we tried the Outward Hound Treat Chaser, hoping it would keep Mushu entertained.

Chase up some fun with the Outward Hound Treat Chaser! This interactive, treat-dispensing game features 2 treat chutes and rollin’ and slidin’ action that keeps dogs engaged.

Mushu’s Thoughts

Mushu wasn’t interested in the Treat Chaser. She walked over to it, smelled the treats inside and walked away. Over the next 2 days I saw her do the same thing a few times. I rolled the ball to her an a treat fell out, she still wasn’t interested. One day when Mushu was playing in the yard with her best friend Beartrap, I brought the treat chaser out again. Beartrap showed a little more interest and even rolled it enough to get some treats out. After that she walked away. When Aaron and Summer get home from camp I’m going to let them see if Bailey, their boxer/beagle puppy will play with it.

I think part of our problem is neither Mushu or Beartrap get a lot of treats on a regular basis so they just aren’t motivated by them. The ball was too big for Mushu to carry so she wasn’t interested. If you have a larger dog who loves treats, I think this would be a great toy for your dog.
