On Sunday, September 29, 2019 the Disney Skyliner officially took flight over parts of Walt Disney World. Known as the “most magical flight on Earth”, it connects Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and the soon-to open Disney’s Riviera Resort.

We were at Walt Disney World September 30- October 1 so of course we had to try our Disney’s newest for of transportation. We had spent most of Monday at Disney’s Hollywood Studios but we were spending the late afternoon and evening in Epcot for the final performance of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. We decided to leave our car at the Studios and ride the Skyliner to Epcot.

The line to board the Skyliner moved rather quickly. Each cabin hold up to 10 people but honestly 8 is more comfy. Our first leg, from Studios to the main hub at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, we were seated with 4 other adults. When we boarded our second leg we were seated with one adult and 3 teens. The ride is very smooth and comfortable. We had no extra stops on our ride and there was a nice breeze in our cabin.

Our entire ride, including waiting in lines, took us 26 minutes to get from Disney’s Hollywood Studios to Epcot. Our return trip took about 10 minutes longer due to longer lines. For us Disney Skyliner seems to be the most efficient mode of free Disney transportation. Its almost continuous load and unload keeps things moving unlike buses, boats, and monorails which require longer load and unload times.

Disney Skyliner will begin carrying guests high above Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., on Sept. 29, 2019. The state-of-the-art transportation system will feature custom cabins that glide through the air, conveniently transporting guests between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four resort hotels – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and the new Disney’s Riviera Resort, scheduled to open in December 2019. I would highly suggest staying at one of the Skyliner resorts-Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, Pop Century, or Riviera thanks to this new mode of transportation.

Yes, there was an incident with the Disney Skyliner on October 5, 2019 which left some guests in the gondolas for up to 3 hours. Thankfully, no one was injured and with the help from emergency personnel, everyone got down safely. The Disney Skyliner was closed for over a week and at the time of this writing is up and running again.

Are you excited to ride the Disney Skyliner? I sure was and I can’t wait to ride it again! If you are ready to book your magical Disney vacation Email me and we will start planning.
