Have you ever heard of Mochi Ice Cream? I had but I had never tried it before. Mochi ice cream is a ball of ice cream surrounded by a sticky rice cake or rice dough. It is a sweet, dessert take on the traditional Japanese Mochi that has been enjoyed for generations. MyMo Mochi Ice Cream treats are made with a sweet rice dough surrounding premium MyMo ice cream.

Mom Maven’s Thoughts on MyMo Mochi Ice Cream

I was excited to try this tasty little treat. I love ice cream so why shouldn’t I love mochi? I’ll tell you why…the dough. You see, I have a lot of food texture issues. I was so disappointed when I took a bite and couldn’t even keep it in my mouth. Next up was Ron, he succeeded in eating the whole thing but he said the dough tasted like styrofoam!?! Jordan tried and he said the dough tasted like marshmallow but he couldn’t keep it in his mouth either. Hmm, I’m sure people actually like this stuff and my family is just weird.

Thankfully our neighbors across the street were having their annual back to school luau for the high school/college kids. We brought the remaining 15 MyMo Mochi treats over there and everyone loved them! My neighbor even ate 2! They all said they were delicious. Other words used to describe them were: fun, interesting, tasty, chewy, and yummy. Some of the kids said the dough tasted like marshmallow and only one had a bit of a texture issue with it, but he still ate it. I guess that proves it, my family is just odd 15 likes 3 dislikes.

Glad to see your honest review! You are not alone! Our entire family of 5 couldn’t enjoy them at all either, no matter how hard we tried to choke them down. It was such a disappointment considering the hype and raves we kept seeing about the little frozen dough balls. Until the expensive mochi trial, with had never seen any of our kids refuse ice cream (or us parents refuse to finish it!) ever! What a fail for us!

this is the most disgusting thing I ever put in my mouth. What is that tasteless rubber you put around the ice cream? I’m sure that any customer will only buy this once take one bite and then toss it all in the garbage. I did scrape off the ice cream before I tossed that awful rubber.

LOL! EvaLena, I totally agree with you. This texture was nasty to me but the teens I shared them with loved them. To each their own!

I’m in 100% agreement! We ended up cutting them open and scooping out the ice cream. They are truly awful!

I have had many brands of mochi ice cream and absolutely loved them all. Today I made a Costco run and bought this MyMo brand. The ice cream is good, but the rice flour wrapping is inedible. Truly terrible. Don’t give up on mochi ice cream if this is the only brand you have tried!!!

I purchased the chocolate mochi ice cream. When we went to open it we realized we had been cheated by two. The two center compartments were empty. This isnt a cheap ice cream so to be cheated wasn’t a very nice feeling.

My Wife and I bought some of these odd ice cream treats and she loved them right away, I was skeptical about the Doughy, chewy wierd texture til’ i learned on the web it was made from rice! Now its not so bad now that i know its not flour & water “blahness”..

These things are awful! We bought 4 at Fresh Thyme Market, looked interesting. At $6.00 for 4 this is the most expensive ice cream we have purchased and we buy quality ice cream. The texture on the outside is nasty and overly sweet and the amount of ice cream can’t be much more than a tablespoon at best and that was nothing special. We bought mango, strawberry, and salted caramel. Yuck!
