Pop Century is our favorite Value Resort at Walt Disney World (we haven’t had the opportunity to stay at Art of Animation yet but we did tour it and it is awesome!) Pop century opened to guests on December 14, 2003 and we checked in for our first of many stays on December 18, 2003. The theming of the resort covers pop icons from each decade from the 1950’2-1990’s. We love looking at all of the memorabilia in the cases along the back wall of the lobby, it is fun to show our kids the favorite toys and gadgets of our childhood.
The main building at Pop Century is Classic Hall. This building houses the check-in area, Everything Pop (store and food court) and the Fast Forward Arcade. Behind Classic Hall is the Petals Pool Bar and the large, flower-shaped Hippy Dippy Pool. There are two other, smaller pools at the resort. The Bowling pool which is shaped like a bowling pin and the Computer Pool which is shaped like a computer monitor.
For us there are 2 things that make Pop Century better than the All Star Resorts. First there is Everything Pop-the food court is better organized both in the seating area and in the serving area. We just enjoy eating there more than we do at any of the All Stars. Second is the Disney transportation. The All Stars share a bus so wait times are longer and it is harder to find a seat. The Pop Century bus only services one resort which decreases wait times and it is often easier to find a seat.
have you stayed at Pop Century? What is your favorite Pop Century memory? Leave me a comment and let me know.
