Back when Jordan was younger he used to love to visit what was then Bear in the Big Blue House on stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Jordan has grown up and the show in that venue has changed multiple times over the years. It has been through several versions of Playhouse Disney Live and now it is Disney Junior Live on Stage!. The current show debuted in February of 2013 and on my last visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios my friend Matthew and I went to check out the show.
Before I tell you about the show itself I thought you should know that in this attraction you sit on the floor. Personally, I have a hard time sitting on the floor and I was very uncomfortable during the entire show. The stage is raised but the puppets are short so if you sit in the back like we did, it is difficult for small children to see what is happening. The sets are huge and disproportionate to the size of the puppets, I’m sure this is so the sizing will be right for the human character but it just seems a bit odd to me.
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
The gist of the show is Mickey, Goofy, Donald and Daisy are planning a surprise party for Minnie. They each have a task to complete before the party, but of course, they need help. Of course this “help” is shown to the gang on the Mousekadoer and then downloaded into Toodles so that they can be seen anytime someone calls, “Oh Toodles”. In this performance the three tools take us to visit other Disney Junior Friends.
Sofia the First
We visit Sofia and her friends as she is trying to make her father’s royal ball a “sparkling success”. With the help of Mr Cedric she and her friends learn that teamwork helps get the job done.
Doc McStuffins
Lambie comes down with a case of “the rippies.” Stuffy the dragon, Hallie the Hippo and friends gather in Doc’s office to cheer her up, resulting in a ton of bubbly fun.
Jake and the Neverland Pirates
Jake and his friends are on the search for their treasure chest, which Captain Hook has stolen. In the end it is “Yo Ho Way to Go!” as the friends show us how working together gets the job done.
Finale
In the end everybody works together and gets everything ready for the party. Minnie arrives and is very surprised and appreciative of all the hard work her friends did on her behalf.
This is a great show for families with children who are familiar with the Disney Junior shows. I recommend you check the times guide and get in line 20-30 minutes before showtime so that you can sit as close to the front as possible.
