“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Mom Corps YOU. I received a free trial to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

As I pray and search for the next step in my work journey, I have been doing a lot of online research. The last time I applied for a job was 1991 and I have never had a functional resume. I have been very blessed and of all the jobs I have had in the past 35 years only 1/3 included a typical application and interview process. The other 2/3 were offered to me because someone in the organization knew me and recognized that I would be a good fit for the job. I have only applied for 3 jobs that I didn’t get in that same time frame. Now at age 49+ I am again seeking employment and/or contemplating being a self-employed social media manager for churches and small businesses. Since it has been 23 years since I last applied for a job I knew I needed help. Mom Corps YOU is one tool I have used in this ongoing education.

About Mom Corps YOU

Mom Corps, a national award-winning professional talent acquisition and career development firm, has launched Mom Corps YOU, an online community to help professionals better integrate their professional and personal lives. Mom Corps believes that work-life satisfaction is best achieved when you can take ownership of several key areas of your life, including career, finances and health & wellness, and this subscription-based community provides education, resources and tools to help you do just that.

The Mom Maven’s Thoughts about Mom Corps YOU

Mom Corps YOU is new and growing. I watched a recording of a webinar entitled “Resumes That Get Results”. Since I have never really had a functional resume and my LinkedIn profile is a bit lacking, I learned a lot of ways to make my resume stand out. Did you know that a resume is typically only looked at by an HR person for 10 seconds?!? That isn’t much time to make a great impression.

I spent some time looking around in the forums but because the site is new there is very little interaction happening in there right now. I’m sure it will get busier as the community grows. On Mom Corps YOU there are lots of articles that give insights into work-life balance, financial management and several other relevant topics.

Mom Corps YOU is available via an online subscription for an introductory annual price of $99.99 (regularly $149.99) or $19.99 a month.

Are you heading back into the workforce or looking to change jobs? Do you thinks Mom Corps YOU would be a good place to hone your skills? Leave me a comment and let me know.
