Earlier this year Walt Disney World introduced mobile ordering for select counter service restaurants throughout the parks. At first I paid no attention to it because it requires charging your meals to a card and we always pay cash. On our September vacation we actually noticed the mobile ordering windows at some of our favorite counter service restaurants but we weren’t intrigued enough to try it. On our recent December Disney vacation the crowds were some of the biggest we have ever encountered, especially during the first weekend of December. On the first day of our vacation we waited in a line that snaked outside of Pinocchio’s Village Haus for almost 30 minutes just to order our lunch! After that we decided to try mobile ordering to see if it saved us time.
Since my debit card is already linked to my My Disney Experience (MDE) app, we decided to use that. I honestly felt like I was cheating using mobile ordering because the service was so fast every time we used it. One time there were long lines at Rosie’s All-American Cafe at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and I walked right up in front of everyone and picked up my order. I’m not gonna lie, I got some dirty looks from people in line! I am now in love with mobile ordering and I will continue to use it every trip…until they allow guests on the Disney Dining Plan to use it as well, I have a feeling that will really bog down the system. Right now there are no discounts available if you use mobile ordering and currently the Disney Dining Plan or Gift Cards are not acceptable forms of payment.
How to Use Mobile Ordering at Walt Disney World
So, how do you use mobile ordering at Walt Disney World? It’s easy, first make sure there is a credit or debit card attached to your My Disney Experience Account. Go into your app and under “my plans” the 3rd choice is “order food” then choose the restaurant and click on the “order food” button inside that restaurant page. Now you just build your order by clicking on the items you want.
When your order is complete click “purchase” then go about your day. When you arrive at the restaurant go back in and click on the “I’m here Prepare my Order” button and head toward the window labeled with the mobile ordering sign. Very soon you will hear a cast member call your name and your app will alert you that your food is ready. It is truly that simple. It saves a lot of time, especially when the parks are busy.

This would be such a fantastic lifesaver! That way you won’t be dealing with grumpy husbands and kids because they are hungry and getting bored of waiting.
