Living in Florida, one of the organizations I have always appreciated was the American Red Cross. The Red Cross is always available, manning hurricane shelters, supporting our first responders and caring for those in need. In 2004 when Hurricane Charley was headed for Tampa Bay, we evacuated to Orlando, where the storm came and hit because it unexpectedly turned north east! I remember the very slow drive home on I-4 and I-75 after the storm. What I remember most about that drive though was the caravan of American Red Cross vehicles headed south to the Punta Gorda area where Charley made landfall. There were mobile kitchens to feed the residents and the first responders as well as other support vehicles. While we personally did not need their services, I was so thankful that they were able to help those who were in need.

Master Lock Protect All That You Love Sweepstakes

Masterlock Protecting All That You Love and Care About Sweepstakes

In addition to the people and dog that I love and care about, which to me are a given, there are some material things I would be heartbroken to lose. The first thing that comes to mind are my scrapbooks, photographs and computer because all of these things are where we have captured memories of our lives.

Master Lock, the world’s largest manufacturer of padlocks and related security products, providing innovative security solutions for home, automotive, campus, power sports, bike and storage security needs since 1921, is helping consumers protect all that they love and care about in 2014, whether a precious pet, certain someone or prized possession. Master Lock is kicking off its year-long initiative by asking consumers to tweet what they most want to protect using the hashtag #MasterLockProtects in exchange for a $1 donation to the American Red Cross and entry into a sweepstakes for a chance to win one of 28 prize packs. Master Lock will make an initial $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross and will donate up to $10,000 in additional funds based on consumer participation in the sweepstakes. Master Lock wants to help keep the places and people consumers care about safe, which is why they chose the American Red Cross to donate to. Master Lock’s donation will support the urgent needs of the American Red Cross mission, whether it is responding to a disaster, collecting lifesaving blood, teaching skills to save a life, or assisting military members and their families during emergencies.
