SeaWorld Just for Kids
Saturday, January 12th we headed to SeaWorld Orlando for the first of this year’s Just For Kids Saturdays. Just for Kids features concerts by kid-centric performers The Imagination Movers, Laurie Berkner – Solo!, Choo Choo Soul with Genevieve and Kratt Brothers Live featuring the stars of Wild Kratts. At Just For Kids there is also Shamu’s Party Zone-complete with a DJ, dance floor, undersea characters and bubble machines! Kids can also complete four different Ocean Adventure Stations throughout the park and be awarded with a Junior Animal Ambassador medallion.
Shamu
This was our second year attending Just for Kids with my little friend Matthew. This year his mom joined the fun too. This year the weather was warm, in the mid 80s! Last year we were all bundled up with jackets, scarves and mittens since it was in the 40s, gotta love Florida winters.

Upon arriving at the park we took some time to look over the event map and Matthew made a list of his top 5 priorities for the day.

  1. Ride Jazzy Jellies
  2. Earn his Junior Animal Ambassador Medallion
  3. Climb the nets at Shamu’s Happy Harbor with mom
  4. See the Imagination Movers
  5. See Elmo Rocks!

Earning the Junior Animal Ambassador Medallion meant visiting 4 Ocean Adventure Stations located throughout the park. At each station the kids completed an educational activity, received an animal card and got their event map punched. Once Matthew completed all 4 stations he was given a coupon to take into the gift shop to receive his medallion.

Ocean Adventure

We visited the Sting Ray Exhibit and saw Blue Horizons (my favorite show in the park) before enjoying lunch at Voyagers Smokehouse. After lunch we headed back to Shamu’s Happy Harbor. Matthew his mom and I rode Jazzy Jellies, Matthew’s favorite ride and then Matthew and his mom climbed the nets and crawled through tubes. Poor Kim came out bruised and rope burned, but Matthew was happy that he got to climb with mom. We worked our way back through the park and spent some time at Shamu’s Party Zone before heading to see The Imagination Movers.
Imagination Movers
The Imagination Movers concert was lively and fun and all the kids seemed to enjoy it. The Movers spent a lot of time out in the audience during the show. Matthew enjoyed himself and he even stood up and danced, after some cajoling.

After the concert there was just one thing left to do, catch the Elmo Rocks show. We headed toward the SeaFire Inn and waited in line. We found great seats on the second level. We had about 20 minutes to wait until showtime so Matthew put his head down on the wall in front of him and quickly fell asleep! At about 3 minutes before showtime we tried to wake him up. He crawled into his mom’s lap and fell back asleep.

This is how Matthew spent the entire show!

The poor kid was so tired he missed the entire Elmo Rocks show! We adults had a great time though. 🙂
Elmo Rocks

After the show we woke Matthew enough to walk all the way to the car in the back of the parking lot. We all had a great day at SeaWorld Just for Kids. If you are in the Orlando area you can catch a Just for Kids Saturday, there are 3 left, January 19, 26 and February 2. the event is included in the general admission price.

Disclosure: We were guests of SeaWorld for this event. All opinions are 100% mine.

We won’t make any of the events left. I’ve been to Sea World only once and my boys have never been.

Even though my daughter is 14, I know she’d love this. We actually watched the Imagination Movers on TV just the other day! So glad that you all had fun.
