“It’s Hip Hop, Baby!” is a new children’s DVD series for ages 2 to 6. These videos educate toddlers and preschoolers with fun child-friendly hip hop music. We got to review video 4 in the series “It’s Hip Hop Baby!: Rockin’ Dance Party”.

This DVD is cute and will definitely have your kids up and moving. You can’t sit still when this music starts playing. The DVD is hosted by a large puppet named Hip Hop Simon. The kids on the DVD are cute. The audio tracks are great, the kids who sing on them are very talented. The songs encourage the kids watching to get up and dance and sing along. Children are also taught to follow simple directions, ABC, numbers and other basic concepts through music, rhyme and movement. Some of the songs are: It’s Bathtime, Exercise, Hip Hop Numbers, and Carrots Peas and Broccoli.

Pros: The children who watch will learn basic concepts, the music is good and it gets kids moving. The kids are cute and they same ages as those who would be watching so kids should feel comfortable getting up and dancing with the kids on TV.

Cons: Ms Dre, an adult, comes out to teach some hip-hop dance moves. She is so over the top that she scared some of the children I watched with. There are also to Zada tap dance segments that don’t fit in the flow of the DVD. They feel like they are just thrown in to fill up space.

This is a cute video and if you have children ages 2-6 this would be a good choice for them.

“It’s Hip Hop Baby!” can be purchased on their website HipHopBaby. OR…you can win some here from The Mom Maven. I have video 2 “It’s Hip Hop Baby!:Get healthy Get Fit!” DVD and “It’s Hip Hop Baby!:Fruit!” music CD to give away to one lucky reader.

Okay, Justin Chambers is super hot, so I got distracted staring at his video for a little while. I did manage to notice that Rabbi Schmuley of TLC fame also endorses! I’ve actually seen this dvd advertised or reviewed on tv once and thought it looked fun!
